FAKULTI KEJURUTERAAN MEKANIKAL

DYNAMICS & MECHANISM

BMCG 1253 SEMESTER 2 SESI 2020/2021

1.0 OBJECTIVES

To develop student who are capable to apply the basic concept of kinematics,
dynamics, kinetics, and the motion of machines in engineering design.

2.0 LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the course, student should be able to:

i. Apply and analyze the principle of kinematics of a particle.

ii. Apply and analyze the principle of kinematics of a rigid body.
iii. Understand and apply the concept of belt and gear system.
iv. Analyze gyroscopic effect and fundamental vibration problem of a system.

3.0 SYNOPSIS

This subject consists of two parts namely dynamics and mechanics of machines.
Dynamics introduces the principles of kinematics and kinetics of particles, followed by
kinematics of a rigid body. Mechanics of machines covers power transmission System
(belt drive and gear-based transmission), gyroscope and vibration topics that include
simple harmonic motion, free vibration and free damped vibration.
