WHY IS THIS
IMPORTANT?
Children today will never not have
technology in their lives. And the
internet can be a very large
unknown place. And just like
teaching children how to walk across
the street, we need to teach them
how to navigate online as well.
DANGERS OF THE INTERNET
➤ Not every part of the internet is child friendly. There can be cyberbullying, revealing
too much. piracy, phishing, malware, and obscenity.
➤ Phishing is what cyber security professionals call the use of emails that try to trick
people into clicking on malicious links or attachments.
➤ Malware is computer software that is installed without the knowledge of
permission of the victim and performs harmful actions on the computer.
➤ Internet addiction is becoming a more significant problem. Internet use can be a
good thing, but if it becomes an addiction it can affect a person's offline life.
➤ There is a risk of eye strain, wrist strain, and other injuries. You can help prevent this
by limiting the amount of time your kids spend on computers and mobile devices.
➤ Online dangers are not just limited to bad websites. Chat rooms, computer games,
and even social networking sites can be risky.
USING THE INTERNET IN THE CLASSROOM

games, students can be online for hours at a time.
➤ This might include zoom meetings or blending learning act flipped classroom
➤ Using apps like kahoot, ST Math, IXL, or iready

➤ They can use power point to make a slide show
➤ Or make a video using a green screen and camera
