M. Phil Economics
Admission criteria
1) A 16 years degree in Economics or relevant field1 with a minimum of 2.5/4.00 CGPA
under semester system or 50% marks under the annual system from the HEC recognized
institutions.
2) The candidates must pass NTS/ GRE (General) or the admission test and interview
conducted by the department with at least 50 % marks.
3) In-service candidates are required to provide an NOC from their department.
Program duration
Minimum 4 semesters (2 years)
Maximum As per university rules
Credit hours:
For award of M.Phil degree, candidates need to complete 30 credit hours; 24 credit hours of
course work and 6 credit hours of thesis research.
Thesis research:
1) After the completion of course work with a CGPA of 2.5/4.00 or above the student will
develop a research proposal on a suitable topic under the supervision of an assigned
teacher preferably from the department.
2) After the approval of the synopsis/ research proposal by the supervisor the student will
give a seminar to be attended by the faculty and the students.
3) The synopsis after its approval by Departmental Research Committee (DRC) will be
submitted to the Graduate Research Management Council (GRMC) for its final approval.
4) After the completion of research on the approved topic the student will prepare a draft
report based on the results of his/her research. This draft will be forwarded by the
supervisor to the seminar coordinator for arranging a seminar by the student.
5) The student will take note of the comments/observations made in the seminar and
incorporate the same in the final draft. The supervisor will ensure the incorporation of the
comments of the seminar and certify to that effect.
6) The supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the manuscript and it is
being free from plagiarism.
