I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards acquires knowledge of appropriate reading strategies for a better understanding of academic texts
B. Performance Standards produces a detailed abstract of information gathered from the various academic texts read
C. Learning 5. uses various techniques in summarizing a variety of academic texts (CS_EN11/12A-EAPP-Ia-c-5) P.E and
Competencies/Objectives 6. states the thesis statement of an academic text HEALTH

7. paraphrases/ explains a text using one’s own words
(CS_EN11/12A-EAPP-Ia-c-7)

Specific Objectives:
a. Illustrate that writing is a process and that re-writing is part of the process;
b. Construct a clear thesis statement;
c. Distinguish between paraphrasing and quoting and use them appropriately in the paper;
d. Document the sources properly using APA style; and
e. Write and academic paper following the writing process.
