(2011) Rail-to-Rail IO Amps

The document discusses rail-to-rail amplifiers. It begins by explaining why rail-to-rail operation is important, especially for low supply voltages. It then describes several approaches to designing rail-to-rail amplifiers, including using a 3x current mirror to equalize the transconductances of NMOS and PMOS transistors. Another approach uses a Zener diode to set the gate-source voltages of the input transistors. Performance measurements are provided for an amplifier designed using a 3x current mirror, showing it can achieve rail-to-rail operation with less than 15% variation in transconductance.
