How to prepare your Amazon Custom Text Template

DATA DEFINITIONS TAB

The Data Definitions tab can be thought of as a glossary of explanations and acceptable values.

The headers in the data definitions tab are each color coded and correspond elements that are located in the template tab.
We recommend printing the Data Definitions tab for reference.
TEMPLATE TAB

The Template tab contains all of the customization information you configured within your template – this is the location
where all SKUs can be added in bulk that you wish to take on similar customization characteristics. You will notice that this
tab includes 4 rows: The first row contains the unique identifiers of the customization components, the second row
contains attributes of the customization components, the third row contains the user friendly names for each attribute,
and the fourth row contains the SKU and values related to the SKU for each of the attributes & components. Rows 1-3
cannot be manipulated in any way. If you are not providing data for a particular optional field, leave the cell blank.
Required fields are marked in row 3 with an asterisk (e.g. label*).
SAVE & UPLOAD YOUR FILE
When you have finished entering your product data into the Template tab, save the Template tab (only) as a Unicode Text
(.txt) file and upload it on the
'Enable Custom Products via Upload' (https://sellercentral.amazon.com/gestalt/sellertemplate/index.html)

Your listings must be live online (with inventory greater than 0) before they can be enabled for customization.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
1. High ASCII characters (such as ®, ©) and HTML tags are not allowed.
2. Only child SKUs or SKUs without variations can be added to the template.
3. Columns cannot be added or removed from the template.
4. Customizations cannot be enabled on FBA enabled ASINs.
5. Customizations cannot be enabled if there are multiple offers present on the ASIN.

6. Ensure that custom fonts are TrueType(.ttf) file or Web Open Font Format (.woff), and confirm that the font file is set to
installable. A font file set to installable indicates that the font creator has given permission to embed and install the font.
7. Data Customizations added to the Template will appear under the same header as Text Customizations.
REMOVING FIELDS
1. Surfaces: If your template contains multiple surfaces, but you would like a particular SKU or set of SKUs to have less
surfaces then you can leave all cells blank related to the surfaces you would not like to appear.

2.Fonts: In the event that your template was created with multiple fonts (e.g. 3 custom and 2 standard), but you would like
a particular SKU or set of SKUs to have less fonts, you can do so by leaving the fields blank - The only caveat is that you
must have at least one font present for the file to process.

3. Colors: In the event that your template was created with multiple colors, but you would like a particular SKU or set of
SKUs to have less colors, you can do so by leaving the fields blank - The only caveat is that you have at least one color
present for the file to process.

4. Images & Options: In the event that you would like to exclude one or many image or options customizations from a SKU
you can do so by leaving all the fields under the component blank (e.g. for options, you would leave 'label', 'instructions',
'make this required for buyer?', 'options name', 'options image', 'thumbnail', and 'options price' blank).
5. Text customizations: In the event that you would like to exclude one or many text customizations from a SKU, leave all
fonts, colors, and associated text customization information blank (such as 'position x', 'position y', 'character limit', etc.).

A publicly accessible HTTP/HTTPS URL which is a

direct link to downloading your preview image
file. This image will be shown in the
'customization preview' on the product detail
page - square image with a Minimum 400 x
400 px in  JPEG(.jpg) or PNG(.png) format with a
Preview image max size of 3 MB.

Clipping masks allow you to define areas of your

preview that should not be covered by buyer
uploaded images. For example, if you sell a
phone case and you masked both the
background and camera hole, a buyer uploaded
image would appear as if it was perfectly cut in
the shape of the case, leaving the background
and camera hole intact. Requirements: 400 x
400 px square image in PNG format with a max
Clipping mask size of 3 MB.
