RADAR SERVICES

BASIC RADAR SERVICES FOR AIRCRAFT


MIGHT INCLUDE:
• Safety alerts.
• Traffic advisories.
• radar vectoring when requested by
the pilot.
• Sequencing where procedures have
been established for IFR or VFR
INITIAL CONTACT
An aircraft sighted by the local controller
at the time of first radio contact
IDENTIFICATION
Specific Identify of the aircraft given by
the local controller
TRANSPONDER
Aircraft have transponder to assist in
identifying them on air traffic control
radar. Collision avoidance systems
have been developed to use
transponder transmissions as a
means of detecting aircraft risk of
colliding with each other. Codes of transponder
Equipment on board that transmit the
aircraft’s information to the Control
facilities.
In order to the aircraft being visible
• Uses 4 digits
When do we have to use the
transponder?
• In class B and C airspace.
• Over flying class C.
• Within mode C veil.
• Above 10.000ft.

Automatic dependent surveillance-
broadcasts
Position reports based on satellite
navigation systems
Ads-b out: only report your position to
the others
Ads-b in: report your position and is able
to receive other traffic information
Work on 2 frequency’s 978MHz (UAT
universal access transceiver )or 1090
MHz (associated to mode A,C,S )
If flying 18.000 and above may use
1090ES (extended squitter)
