I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard
Demonstrates understanding of key concepts, uses and importance of Statistics, data collection/gathering
and the different forms of data representation, measures of central tendency, measures of variability, and
probability.
B. Performance Standard
The learner is able to collect and organize data systematically and compute accurately measures of central
tendency and variability and apply these appropriately in data analysis and interpretation in different fields.
C. Learning Competency
poses real-life problems that can be solved by statistics M7SP-Iva-2
formulates simple statistical instruments. M7SP-IVa-3
In this lesson, the students should be able to:
1. defined statistics, statistical questions and simple statistical instruments;
2. created a simple statistical instrument; and
3. appreciated the importance of statistics in solving real-life problems.

of the new lesson. We use statistics to manage our time properly, to budget finances, to count
on the number of days spent on the particular task and many more.
Statistics is a mathematical science that includes collecting, organizing and
analyzing data in such a way that meaningful conclusions can be drawn from
them.
A statistical question is one that can be answered by collecting data that
varies from each other. This means that, not all the values of the data are the

There are two types of data: quantitative (numerical) and qualitative
(categorical).
Types of Data Definition Examples
Quantitative Every value in the set 1,2,3,4…
(Numerical) is a number
Lesson 2
Formulates Simple Statistical Instrument
A statistical instrument is any process whose aim is to describe a
phenomenon by using an interview guide, questionnaire, or a rating scale.
Here are the statistical instruments that are commonly used in research.
1. Interview guide
It is a list of questions to be asked face to face to gather data from the
respondents. It can be a structured or unstructured interview.
greatest strength?
Do you think TV is
educational?
2. Questionnaire
It is a printed list of questions to be answered by respondents to collect data.
It can be structured or closed format or unstructured or open format.
3. Rating scales
It is often used in survey research and respondents are asked to rate or select
a response in a ranked manner.

1. REMARKS
(This is a part of the DLP in which teachers shall indicate special cases, including, but not limited to,
continuation of lesson plan on the following day in case or re-teaching or lack of time, transfer of lesson on
the following day in cases of class suspension, etc.)
1. REFLECTION
(This part of the DLP should be filled out right after the delivery of the lesson. Teachers are encouraged to
think about their lessons particularly the parts that went well and the parts that were weak and write about
it briefly. In the reflection, teachers can share their thoughts and feelings about their lessons including
things about the lesson that were successfully implemented, that needed improvement, or that could be
adjusted in the future. As in the DLP, teachers can also talk about their leaners who did well in the lesson
and those who need help.)
