Much of the information available is only of use to Raspberry Pi engineers, bu there are a numberof very useful options available to end users that will be described here. ‘The source forthe application can be found on our github page here. Usage ‘To get alist of all the commands that vossnond supports type ‘Some of the more useful commands are described below. Commands ‘The. vcos command has a number of sub commands. raion | Displays the bullé date and version of the firmware on the VideoCore, us Displays the errorlog status of the various VideoCore software Displays the build date and version of the fmware on the VideoCore. ‘getcamera Displays the enabled and detected state ofthe official camera. 1 means yes, 0 ‘means no. Whilst al frmwvare (except cutdovin versions) will support the camera, this support needs tobe enabled by using rasplcontic, ‘get throttled Returns the throttled state of the system. This is abit patter -a bit being set indicates the following meanings: Bit Hexvalue Meaning o4 Under-voltage detected 12 ‘Arm frequency capped 24 Currently throttled a8 Soft temperature limit active 16 10000 —_Undervoltage has occurred 17 20000 Arm frequency capping has occurred 18 40000 Thvating has occurred 19 80000 Soft temperature limit has occurred ‘A value of zero indicates that none ofthe above conditions is true. hitps iawn raspberypi.orgidocumentationaspian/applicatonsivogencmd.md srt8i2021 Raspberry Pi Documentation To find fone of these bits has been set, convert the value returned to binary, then number each bit along the top. You can then see which bits ae set. For example ‘Adding the bt numbers along the top we get a9 1817 16 15 1613121120 9 8 e1e1e2e8280000 76 ee 54 2° From this we can see that bits 18 and 16 are set, indicating thatthe Pi has previously been throttled due to under-oltage, but isnot currently throttled for any reason. Alternately, subtracting the largest value: values can be derived using the hex values above, by successively measure temp Returns the temperature ofthe SoC as measured by the on-board temperature measure_clock [clock] ‘This returns the current frequency ofthe specified clock. The options are: clock Description ‘arm ARM cores core VC scaler cores, 264 H264 block Isp Image Signal Processor v8d_— aD block art UART wm PWM block (analogue audio output) femme SD card interface Pixel Pixel valve vec Analogue video encoder hdmi HDMI pl Display Peripheral Interface €g. veyencnd measure clock arn measure_volts [block] Displays the current voltages used by the specific block. block Description core V8 core voltage sdram_e SDRAM Core Voltage sdram_j SDRAM /O voltage sdram_p SDRAM Phy Voltage ‘otp.dump hitps iawn raspberypi.orgidocumentationaspian/applicatonsivogencmd.md 35 srt8i2021 Raspberry Pi Documentation Displays the content ofthe One Time Programmable (OTP) memory, which is part of the SoC. These are 32 bit values, indexed from 8 to 64. See the OTP bits page. Tor more details ‘get_mem type Reports on the amount of memory allocated to the ARM cores vegeacad get_awn azn andthe VC4| vegencnd get Note: On a Raspberry Pi 4 with greater than 168 of RAM, the asm option is inaccurate, This is because the GPU firmware which implements this command is conly aware ofthe fist gigabyte of RAM on the system, sothe a= setting will always tetum 1GB minus the ars ‘memory value. To get an accurate report of the amount of ARM memory, use one ofthe standard Linux commands, such as ‘codec_enabled [type] Reports whether the specified CODEC type is enabled. Possible options for ype are AGIF, FLAC, H263, H264, MJPA, MJPB, MPG, MPG2, MPG4, MVCO, PCM, ‘THRA, VORB, VP6, VP8, WMV9, WVCI, Those highlighted currently require a paid for licence (see the £AQ for more info), except on the Pi4, where these hardware codecs are disabled in preference to software decoding, which requires no lieence. Note that because the H26S HW block on the Raspberry Pid is not part of, the VideoCore GPU, its status is not accessed via this commane, ‘get contig type | name ‘This returns all the configuration items of the specified type that have been set in config.tx, oF a single configuration item. Possible values for type parameter are Int str, or simply use the name ofthe configuration item, ‘geted info Displays the resolution and colour depth of any attached display Displays statistics on any Out Of Memory events occurting in the VC4 memory space mem.roloc_stats Displays statistics from the relocatable memory allocator on the VC4, read.ring.ose Retuns the curent speed voltage and temperature ofthe ring oscillator. hdmitimings Displays the current HDMI settings timings. See Video Config for detals ofthe values returned dispmanx list Dump alist of all dispman tems currently being displayed display_power [| 1 | -1] [display] Show current display power state, or set the display power state vegencnd display power o willtum off power to the current display ‘vogorcnd sicplay_roxer 1 willturn on power to the display.
