Lesson 2: Verbs, Adverbs and Preposition

I. Introduction:
This module covers the verbs, adverbs and preposition. Verbs tell you what the subject of
a sentence or clause is doing (or being). Verbs are conjugated according to person, number,
gender, tense, aspect, mood, or voice.

II. Learning Objectives:


At the end of this module, the students will be able to:
 Discuss how words are formed; its mechanism and process;
 Identify the functions of adjectives; and point the adjectives in a reading text;
 Analyze meaning and use of various noun and pronoun structure.

Activity 1: ESSAY
Answer the following questions comprehensively on a short bond paper. This can be
submitted written, encoded/printed, or online.

1. In your own idea, define and explain words. (10 points)


2. How important is words and why? (10 points)
3. In your own word, define the position of adjectives. (10 points)
4. Explain the classes of adjectives. (10 points)
5. Differentiate indefinite and definite articles (10 points)

Activity 2: QUIZ; IDENTIFICATION and COMPARE AND CONTRAST (2points each)

1. It is always followed by a singular noun and a verb.


2. Adjectives in the first position - before the noun - are called.
3. It can be classified according to their action and meaning, but it is challenging to
define. 
4. Every word must contain at least, how many roots?
5. It refers to the way that a pronoun functions in a sentence, whether nominative,
objective or possessive.
6. It suggests the belongingness of something to someone/something.
7. A word or phrase naming an attribute, added to or grammatically related to a noun
to modify or describe it.
8. It is a word which describes nouns and pronouns. Most of the adjectives belong in
this type.
9-15. Compare and contrast one syllable adjective, two syllable and three or more
syllables.
