-Past tenses:
Past continous: Use to describe temporary situations. Eg: I was watching
a horror movie.
-Past perfect: Actions in the past that occur earlier tan the time period is
being described. Eg: When I realised they had gone, I ran inside.

Vocabulary w/keep:
-keep away: not go somewhere or near something / eg : WE GENERALLY
KEEP AWAY FROM THE CITY CENTRE DURING THE DAY AS IT’S SO
CROWDED.
-keep down: stop the number ,level or size of something from
increasing./eg: MY WEIGHT KEEP ON INCREASING, I HAVE TO EXERCISE TO
KEEP IT DOWN.
-keep in: make someone stay in hospital/eg: MARK HAD THE OPERATION
ON SATURDAY BUT THEY’RE KEEP IN HIM FOR MORE TESTS.
-keep to: stay with something such as a plan, subject or something./eg:
IT’S EASY TO GET LOST ON THE MOUNTAIN, SO MAKE SURE YOU KEEP TO
THE PATH.
-keep up with: understand something that is changing very fast / move at
the same speed as someone or something/ eg: I RARELY KEPT UP WITH
BRITISH NEWS WHEN I WAS LIVING IN CHILE.

0 conditional: a situation that happens often / eg: If you  eat  a lot, you  put
on  weight.

1st conditional:  talk about a realistic situation in the present or future . /eg : If
you’re  free later, we  can go  for a walk.

2nd conditional: talk about improbable or


impossible situations in the present or future / eg: If I  had  more time, I’d
exercise  more.  (But I don’t have more time so I don’t.)
 

3rd conditional:  talk about impossible situations or to describe regrets/ eg: If


we  had left  earlier, we  would have arrived  on time.
7.2
Vocabulary :
-do aerobics -do martial arts -go swimming – do athletics – play basketball
-go snowboarding – play golf -go running -play football -do gymnastics
Expressions with do:
Do damage: The fire did a lot of damage to the sports hall.
Do a Good job: The engineers did a Good jobo n building the new stadium.
Do without: One thing I can’t do without is my bicycle I use it all the time.
Do business with someone: I’ve always found that they are a very Good
company to do business with.
Do something for a living: What does your father do something for a
living?
Do someone a favor: I’d forgotten my wallet , so Tom did me a favor and
lent me some money.

8.2
Used to and would:
*To talk about something in te past that doesn’t happen now. This could
be something permanent.
-The three of us used to have terrible fights( used to+verb)
*To mean “ to be/ get accustomed to”
-We were used to doing them( be/get used to+ing verb)
*To talk about a repeated action in the past which doesn’t happen now.
(must be repeated)
-Sometimes we would go out and play.(would+verb)
Vocabulary:
-do 200 kph. -break promises -have a holiday -made a fortune -keep
awake -tastes Good -spend time

Phrasal verbs with get:


Get away: conseguir hacer algo malo sin ser castigado/eg: The two boys
got away from the angry neighbour as quickly as they could.
Get down: bajar / eg. Susie needs to get down to some work because she
has exams soon.
Get over: superar /eg: I’m just geting over the flu.
Get into: entrar/ eg: I get into the football team.
