METHOD STATEMENT for MICROPILE INSTALLATION

1.0 PURPOSE

The purpose of the document is to outline the process and the installation procedure of Micro
pile by drilling method.

2.0 SCOPE

The method statement is applicable to installation of all Micro piles by drilling method.

MACHINERY AND MATERIALS

Drilling Set up includes the drilling rig, drilling rods, drill bits and down the hole hammer.

Drilling accessories include compressor, generator, and water tank.

Materials required are follows:

 PVC Pipes
 Cement & Non shrink Admixture
 RMC concrete of M20 Grade
 Water
 Diesel and other consumable

4.0 PROCEDURE

MICRO PILE INSTALLATION SEQUENCE

Survey and set out the Pile locations.

Set up the drilling rig at the surveyed location.

If required, temporary or permanent casing is inserted first in the drilling process to prevent cave-in or
soil collapse of overburden soil at top.

Drag bit or tri cone roller bit shall be used in soil drilling but down the hole air hammer shall be used in
rock formation. The dia of hole for Micro piling shall be 200mm.

Water or compressed air shall be used as flushing medium during drilling process. Mostly drilling shall
be done with Air compressor.

Upon reaching the required depth of 7m, the hole is cleaned by flushing out any loose chippings or
soil cuttings.

Inside the 200 dia drilled holes, insert 125 mm OD & PVC pipe up to a minimum depth of 2.5 to 3 m
into the hard strata.

The pipe is filled by a Cement Grout and then the annular space between drilled hole and PVC Pipe
is to be grouted with non-shrink cement grout.

INSTALLATION RECORD

Micro pile installation records (refer to Attachment 1) shall be completed by Engineer /


Foreman and submitted to the client or his representative for verification after the installation
of pile is completed.
