Human security as an origin to accomplish the goal of sustainable global peace.

Abstract

The notion of security has shifted since the last few decades beyond border security to bring the issue of
individual’s security into focus. In the Pre-cold war Era, states were concerned about their territorial
integrity, sovereignty and border threats from other countries. Keeping these menaces in view, all were
trying to enhance military capabilities and arms. This concept of security was criticized due to its
‘unilateralist’ nature. During Cold war Era, multiple initiatives were taken by the East-West rivals to
reduce the expenditure on arms. The abstraction of enlarging the idea of security from border security
towards human security was first stated by the Independent Commission on Disarmament and security
issues. (1982). The United Nations Human Development report originally gave the concept of human
security (1994). During this transition of security Approach, Human security was thus expounded as;

‘-security of individuality, not just states,

-The security of folks, not only that of territory.

-The security through developmental process, not through arms.

-Security of people everywhere in their homes, professions, communities and in their environments as
well’ (Haq,1994). The globe can never be free from dangers and threats unless the people are not safe in
their lives (Ferrero-Waldner: 2013). The sustainable peace has two aspects 'freedom from fear' and
'freedom from wants' the former states about the border or external threats while the latter elucidates
the Economic and social priorities. This study is based on qualitative method of research that includes
secondary data available in the form of books, articles, research papers, journals and various reports.
Human security which leads to enduring global peace may demands for a remarkable cooperation and
participation among the International, regional, state government and civil society.

Problem statement

This research explores that the collaboration among the International, regional, states governments and
civil society leads to Human security which is the patron of ever lasting global peace.
