Welcome to the first workbook from howtostudykorean.com. This workbook is designed

as a supplement to the lessons in Unit 0, to be used after reading individual lessons. We
suggest completing a lesson posted on our website and then working on that individual
lesson in this workbook.

Unit 0: Lesson 1
Throughout Unit 0, you learned how to read, write and recognize the Korean alphabet.
This workbook is designed to give you practice reading and writing the characters you
will need to know. In Unit 0, Lesson 1, you learned the following consonants:
ㄱ, ㄴ, ㄷ, ㄹ, ㅁ, ㅂ, ㅅ, ㅈ, ㅎ - And the following vowels:ㅣ, ㅏ, ㅓ, ㅡ, ㅜ, ㅗ

Before we go any further, let’s look at how to draw each letter individually. If you have
no experience drawing Asian characters, drawing some of these letters might feel
unnatural, but you should follow the guiding arrows in order to draw each letter correctly.
In essence, the strokes are made from top to bottom or left to right. It is hard to get used
to is the fact that strokes are rarely made from right to left or bottom to top.

ridiculous, but nobody ever learned how to read and write Korean without a little bit of
