- Weigh: 30% of Final Grades

Structure:
- 100 total score (30K, 30A, 20T, 20C)
- 15 Multiple Choices (30 K)
- 10 Matching (10 A)
- 12 Labeling (12 A)
- 3 Calculations (8 A)
- 6 Short Answers (20 C + 20 T)

Topics:
1. Counting and Probability
a) Determine experimental & theoretical probability (discrete sample)
b) Solve the probability of mutually or non-mutually exclusive events, dependent or independent events
c) Application of additive and multiplicative counting principle
d) Indirect method (Complement of an event)
e) Evaluate permutation and combination (formula will be provided)
f) Solve word problems regarding permutation and combination (review all examples in handout)
g) Determining missing terms in Pascal’s Triangle
h) Binomial expansions

2. Probability Distribution (discrete)

a) Based on the given prompt, determine whether the probability of the event follows a uniform, binomial
or hypergeometric distribution.
b) Uniform distribution - Determine probability distribution, P(X=x), E(X); Draw probability histogram
c) Binomial distribution - Determine probability distribution, P(X=x), E(X);
d) Hypergeometric distribution - Determine probability distribution, P(X=x), E(X);

Note: The formula of each distribution will be provided, but you have to understand the meaning of each
parameter and be able to identify them from the prompt.

3. Probability Distribution (continuous)

a) Draw the frequency table, frequency histogram, frequency polygon
b) Describe the graph a given data set that follows normal distribution by determining its μ and σ
c) Apply 68-95-99.7 rule to solve real-world problems involving probability
d) Apply standardization, z-score and z-score table to solve real-world problems involving probability

Note: Z-score formula and table will be provided.

4. Organization of Data
a) Identify the type of data (e.g. primary/secondary, micro/aggregate, categorical/numerical)
b) Evaluate the appropriateness of survey questions
c) Identify the key elements of an experimental design (e.g. control/treatment group)
d) Identify different types of sampling strategy
e) Describe differences between four different types of bias
5. One-variable Data Analysis
a) Determine central tendency of a given data set - mean, median, mode (discrete or continuous)
b) Determine the spread of a given data set (discrete or continuous)
- Percentile rank & Percentile
- Quartile
- Range & Interquartile range
- Variance & Standard deviation
- Identify outliers
c) Draw and interpret the box and whisker plot for a given data set

6. Two-variable Data Analysis

a) Use correlation coefficient to describe the strength of correlation between two variables
b) Graphically represent a given data set by drawing a scatter plot and residual plot
c) Find the equation of the line of best fit from two points
d) Based on the given equation of the line of best fit and r 2 to interpret the relationship between two
variables
e) Identify different types of relationship
f) Conduct an outlier and hidden variable analysis for two-variable data sets
g) Critique uses and misuses of data
