Installing Commvault agent:-

Procedure to install Commvault agent in SOLARIS

1. Before Start installation ensure comserver, media agent & client entries are /etc/hosts entries,
or added in domain server.
2. Insert the commvault agent CD in server and mount the CD. Else take the dump image
previously saved. Below document Installation explained with screenshot.
3. Find cvpkgadd binary and run the binary using ./cvpkgadd

bash-3.2# ls -l cvpkgadd
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root system 122693 Apr 30 2009 cvpkgadd
4. Press enter continue to license page and types “yes” to continue installation
5. Read the below options and select the “physical machine” or “virtual machine”
6. Type physical hostname enter to continue

7. Select the required option to install, in our case installing filesystem IDA
8. Specify the installation path enter, default /opt

9. Specify the log path and enter, default /var/log


10. Assign the group if already created, else “no”
11. Installation in progress

12. Allow the default port number for comvault 8400 – 8402
8400 - cvd
8401 - Event manager server
8402 - Event manager client
Ensure above mentioned ports required for backup and restore

13. Configure the firewall services if required, default “no”

14. Enter the comvault server name


15. Agent installation has been completed and configure post installation steps,
16. Set the storage policy, else default “no”

17. Set the Global filters as per your requirement.


18. Assign client computer group, in our case blade

19. Agent has been successfully installed.


20. Upgrade the latest service pack if required, else exit from installation screen.
21. Same Procedure need to follow for the all commvault agent installation.
