1st Squad will conduct a point ambush along Route BLUE to destroy enemy courier patrols. They will cross the line of departure by 0200 and set up the ambush by 0700. The squad will be divided into two teams, with Team A conducting the initial assault through the kill zone while Team B provides security. Once the area is secured, casualties will be evacuated to the casualty collection point and prisoners will be secured before withdrawing to the ORP and BP.

SQD STX SQUAD AMBUSH OPORD

1 SITUTATION:
A. Enemy Intel reports that enemy courier patrols are moving along trails in our AO. These
patrols consist of 2 to 3 men armed with light weapons that will resist as their morale is high.

B. Friendly Forces (1) Higher Unit: 1st PLT, A CO conducts an area ambush vic AO
UNION NLT 100700OCT08 to destroy enemy courier patrols.
(2) 2nd SQD follows us across the LD, and then they move along route
CRAY and establishes a point ambush.
(3) 3rd SQD secures BP.

C. Attachments/Detachments: NONE

2 MISSION:
1st SQD is the main effort. We will cross the LD NLT 1002OCT08 and move along Route BLUE
and establish a point ambush at ET 37511194 and set NLT 1007OCT08.

3 EXECUTION:
A. Concept
(1) Maneuver: 1st SQD is the ME for the ambush. We will cross the LD NLT 0200 moving in a
traveling squad file with A TM as the lead team. We will stop and set up a 360 security at our pre
determined ORP. TM leaders will ensure their team has set sectors of fire. The leader’s recon,
consisting of A TL, B TL, two members of A TM, and myself, will then depart leaving a 5 point
contingency plan. During this time, the rucks will be consolidated in the center of the 360. We
will then return and disseminate the information and get ready to move. We will also pre
determine the RP which we will briefly halt at. B TM will then break off and set up claymores on
the left flank security while A TM moves right to set up the initial assault. The SAW will be set
in the center of A TM pointing to the center of the Kill Zone. We will be ready NLT 0700. The
ambush will be initiated with the SAW. A TM will assault through while B TM pulls security on
the left and right flanks as well as the rear. When A TM reaches the LOA they will set up a hasty
180 security and the Aid and Litter team will move through first taking all casualties to the CCP
and reporting any MEDEVAC that may be needed. In the mean time, A TL and B TL will get an
ACE report to me. Then EPW team will move through and A TM will bring me a SALUTE
report. We will then begin to withdrawal while the DEMO team sets up, meeting at the RP. When
we have full accountability we will move to the ORP disseminate information and then move
back to the BP.
(2) Fires: None Available

Tasks to Main Units:


A TM will consist of the pri Aid and Litter, pri DEMO, alt EPW teams. A TM will also have the
compass and pace man.
B TM will consist of pri EPW, alt Aid and Litter, and alt DEMO teams and will designate a team
member to carry the SAW.

Coord/Inst
(1) PIR: Direction of travel, maps, overlays, NBC Capabilities.
(2)Reports: Depart LD, ambush set, captured EPWs, ACE after consolidation, and
SITREPS/SALUTE as needed.

CDT BERRY
Safety: All weapons remain on safe while moving, switch to semi only when we are set and
ready for the assault initiation

4 Service Support
a. General: Company trains located in Co BP vic grid ET 378108.
b. Material and Service:
(1) Supply: No resupply available for 24 hours.
(2) Class I cycle is: MRE-MRE-MRE.
(3) Top off water in your current positions before moving out.
(4) Medical; CCP at Co BP. MEDEVAC available upon request.
(5) Personnel: EPW collection points located at CO BP.
(6) Miscellaneous: We have red smoke available which will be used mark the LZ for
MEDEVAC.
