1.0 Introduction & Scope

1.1 This method of statement specifies the detailed requirement and procurement for the
testing and commissioning of humidifier for the above stated project.

1.2 Application Project Specification

As per JO Drawing: Reference MS-5A-7201

2.0 Location of Activity:

Building 5A, L2

3.0 Method and Procedures:

Preparation Works:

Before starting with testing and commissioning of humidifier the following shall be
carried out:

1. Be sure that all installation works are complying with the approved
method of statement and approved by the Engineer.
2. Make sure that the electrical connection has been tested and approved by
the electrical engineer.

Testing and Commissioning:

1. Check steam humidifier and installation for damages.


2. Check whether the unit covers are correctly in place and fastened.
3. Check the power supply for the humidifier unit
4. Check initial temperature and humidity of the area under test
5. Open the shut off valve to the water feed.
6. Switch on the service switch for network supplies.
7. Switch on the steam humidifier, the steam humidifier carries out a system
test, during which all the LEDs light up in sequence.

If, after the system test:

• The yellow LED blinks permanently, a BUS failure is present. Consult


manufacturer’s troubleshooting manual.
• The Yellow LED light permanently, steam cylinder maintenance has not
been reset.
• The yellow LED and the red LED light permanently, the steam cylinder
maintenance has not been executed or the maintenance indication has not
been reset.

• The red LED light permanently, a fatal malfunction has occurred, in this
case press the drain/info key for 3 seconds until operation status display is
activated.
• The system is now ready for normal operation.

8. Check actual electrical load of the humidifier unit


9. Check actual steam generating output of the humidifier unit
10. Check the unit automatic On/Off operation as per humidistat setting

Performance Testing:

As soon as the humidity controller or the humidistat requires humidity, power is


switched on for heating (the green LED lights up). The inlet valves opens (slightly
delayed) and the steam cylinder fills with water. The submerged electrodes heat
the water up and after few minutes (approx. 5-10 minutes) steam is produced.

4.0 Responsibilities:

4.1 The Project Engineer will be responsible for the following:

4.1.1 To ensure that all the preparation and arrangement are in place
before and during testing and commissioning.
4.1.2 To ensure that all necessary tools and equipments to carry out the
testing and commissioning is available at the area under test.
4.1.3 To initiate the testing and commissioning Work Inspection Request
(WIR) by preparing necessary attachment and specify the exact
area to be tested and inform the QA/QC engineer that the area is
ready for testing and commissioning.
4.1.4 To coordinate with the Main Contractor MEP Coordinator &
Safety Officer for a safe and proper execution of the works.

4.2 The Site Engineer will be responsible for the following:

4.2.1 To prepare all tools, equipment and manpower necessary to carry


out the testing and commissioning.
4.2.2 To provide all necessary information required.
4.2.3 To coordinate with the Safety Officer and to ensure that the works
are carried out in safe practicing methods.

4.3 The QA/QC Engineer will be responsible for the following:

4.3.1 To carry out pre-inspection and conduct pre-testing to ensure that


the system and area under test is complete and fully functional.
4.3.2 To facilitate the submission of testing and commissioning Work
Inspection Request and ensure that the documentation is complete
and duly signed by all concerned parties.

5.0 Tools & Equipment

The tools & equipments that will be engaged for Testing and commissioning of
Humidifier are as follows:

1) Ladder
2) Thermostat
3) Humidistat
4) Multi meter/Clamp meter
5) Technicians Tools

6.0 Health and Safety

Strictly followed as per the manufacturers Health & Safety recommendations for
handling and use of the materials. Ensure all involved personnel shall be aware of
the same.
