1. Introduction:

This method statement describes FCU units’ installations,


supports, insulation, Flexible connections and valve package Accessories,
spring isolators installation CD drain connections, U trap etc. This statement
will allow the construction entities (client and its subcontractor) to carry out
the work specified under SCOPE OF WORK in a coordinated and organized
manner, following a uniform approach by all parties involved. The
information contained in this Method Statement will be the governing
guideline for all construction activities for the field personnel and everyone
involved in the implementation of this phase of construction of this Project.

This method statement is to give a narrative construction


step as per Material Submittals, Design Drawings, Equipment’s, Tools and
Hazard Analysis of Installation of FCU & its accessories for the COMPLETION
OF AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE HANGARS AT KAIA Project.

2. Scope of work:

This procedure applies to the installation of FCU


equipment installation, accessories valve packages and equipment
installation, to ensure that the work is performed in accordance with the
Project Specifications, International Standards, General Instruction (GI),
and IFC drawings.

This procedure is applicable to the following works


associated with COMPLETION OF AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE HANGARS
AT KAIA Project installation of:

 Preparation of the works


 Delivery and inspection of FCU, valve package, actuators etc.
 Installation as per Project Specification

3. METHODS:

3.1 Receiving of Approved FCU units ,valve packages and all required
accessories,

3.2 When received at site, each Fan Coil Unit shall be checked for quantities,
Model Nos., physical damages and coil connection details and notify supplier
of any non-compliance. After completion of inspection, FCUs shall be stored
properly with protective covering.

3.3 Any items found damaged or not suitable as per the project requirements
shall be removed from site. Until such time, the damaged/non-compliant
material shall be clearly marked and stored separately to prevent any
inadvertent use.

3.4 Valves and other accessories shall be checked for size, Model and quantity.
As in check list any non-compliant material will be returned to the supplier
for suitable replacement.

3.5 Valves and controls shall be segregated as per sizes/models and stored on
racks within a covered store.

5.ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

An effective team shall be deployed to include both


technical and expertise relevant to the facility at hand. It is imperative that the team
is technically proficient with the installation techniques and tools necessary to
execute the works.

The installation team must be structured, with defined roles and responsibilities as
described below:
 CONSTRUCTION MANEGER: -

The Construction Manager shall be responsible for overall implementation of the


method statement to ensure that construction work is carried out as per the
project specification and approved drawings. The construction manager is
responsible to provide all required resources accomplish the job.

 PROJECT MANEGER: -

He has a full authority and responsibility to the Project to monitor the


implementation
and complete the project.

 QUALITY CONTROL MANAGER: -

The Quality Control Manager is responsible for monitoring that the necessary
inspections are carried out, ensures that RFI will be issued to Consultant Qc
inspector for witnessing the work.

 QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTOR: -

The Quality control inspector shall be responsible to inspect and ensure that the
construction work is carried out as per contract specification and approved IFC
drawings. To inspect and verify the material upon delivery at site using material
inspection form. Inform the site engineer for any rectification or improvement
for the quality of product is required before the final inspection. Quality control
inspector shall be responsible to make sure that the latest revision of IFC/Shop
drawings is available at the site.

 SITE ENGINEER: -

The site engineer shall be responsible to ensure that the construction work is
carried out as per contract specification and approved IFC/shop drawings.
Notifying the QC engineer in sufficient timely manner when work is ready for
inspection.

 CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISOR: -

Ensure compliance by all Installers and other associated craftsmen to this


procedure and the project Quality plan. Ensure relevant permits are raised and
received by authorized personnel prior to execution of the work.

 SAFETY MANAGER: -

The Safety Manager shall be responsible for the overall implementation of Safety
Plan related to site activities. Safety Manager shall review prior to the start of
work, Safety Action Plan and safe Work plan that must be implemented and

observed during execution of work. He shall review the application for work
permits and ensure that correct PPE in use during works.

 SAFETY INSPECTOR: -

The safety inspector shall ensure that the work is performed under the safety
measures of the approved HSE plan. Ensure that all staff is wearing relevant
personal protective equipment’s, such as, safety helmets, gloves, goggles, belts,
safety shoes and high visibility reflective vest, as per safety plan. The safety
inspector shall ensure that good housekeeping is implemented at work site and
waste is disposed as per the waste management plan. The safety inspector shall
maintain continuous inspections of the site activities, advise and train the involved
personnel on daily basis to prevent accidents, personnel injury or property
damage.

6. EQUIPMENTS & MATERIALS: -


The following materials must be approved prior to installation.
 FCU Units
 Valve Packages
 Supporting ROD, approved anchor bolts including but not limited to
threaded rod, nut and washers

 Flexible duct & pipe connections with acoustic lining in supply ducts,
actuators, valves etc.
 Fitting accessories etc.
 Vibration /spring isolaters etc.

7. STORAGE AND HANDLING:


 While unloading, the FCUs shall be carefully and slowly lowered to the ground.
Adequate manpower will be engaged for safe handling of the FCUs. The FCUs
will be segregated model wise and stacked accordingly for easy retrieval.

 Manufacturer’s instructions shall be strictly followed as applicable.

 A maximum of 5 Nos. FCUs or as recommended by the manufacturer shall be


stacked one above the other in one lot.

 Where applicable, the bigger size FCUs shall be stored at the bottom and
smaller size FCUs above.

 Store Keeper will be responsible for proper storage and maintenance of


records, as required.

8. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: -

 Mechanical hand Tools & Cutting Tools.


 Marking tools,Drilling Machine.
 Angle Grinder
 Lifting Equipment
 Standard Mechanical Tool Box.
 Measuring Tools.
 Electrical Extension Leads.

9. PRE INSTALLATION PROCEDURE: -

a. Shop Drawing
b. Setting Out
 Before hanger and support installation of FCU units route shall be checked at site.
 Marking should be done before installations with use of latest equipment marking
tool as possible.
 Tools and equipment shall be made operational and available for use. Required
manpower, materials and other needed resources shall readily available
 Schedule a tool box meeting prior the work execution to make all personnel involve
shall have awareness for safety measures.
 All personnel involved will use necessary PPE as required.
 Experienced personnel must operate the equipment and tools to used
 Ensure adequate lighting and air ventilations.
 Works at high level must use an approved access, scaffolding and safety belts.
 Employees working at site must be physically fit and prior to their attendance, the
HSE officer must check their body temperature. Anyone found with fever will be
isolated immediately

c. Work preparation
 Before starting the installation activities, the approved shop drawing and approved
material shall be ready and available at site.
 Area and access will be inspected to confirm that the site is ready and is safe to
commence the work.

 All relevant documentation and material applicable to a section of works will be


checked by site Engineer before commencement of work. Avoid stress loads on the
ground line flange

10. FCU installation procedure:

10a) Preparation
10.1 Mark the support locations as per approved drawings/manufacturers details and
fix the approved anchor fasteners in the slab.
10.2 Fix the duct flexible connection on air outlet side of the Fan Coil Units.
10.3 Ensure ducting is provided with acoustic lining as per approved shop drawings.
10.4 Check co-ordination with false ceiling and other services prior to installation.
10.5 Ensure easy accesses and sufficient clearance for servicing and maintenance i.e.
for cleaning of filters, removal of motors, maintenanceof valve packages.

10b) Installation
10.6 Follow the manufacturer’s instructions while installing the FCU.
10.7 Install Fan Coil Unit with threaded rod and G.I. fasteners and rubber bushes
supplied by the manufacturer. Sufficient manpower will be engaged for
safe installation.
10.8 Check the slope of the drain tray in the direction of drainpipe connection.
10.9 Flow test the drain tray and ensure water is drained out completely.
10.10 Complete the valve package and piping connections as per approved
drawings.

10.11 Connect the drain piping as per approved drawings.


10.12 Ensure the provision for cleaning of drain tray.
10.13 Clean the interiors of FCU and drain tray.

11. INSPECTION, TESTING & COMMISSIONING:

11.1 Work Inspection Request shall be raised for Consultant’s inspection


11.2 and signoff.
11.3 Inspection shall be carried out as per the installation checklist.
11.4 Inspection shall be recorded in the approved format.
11.5 FCU and valve package shall be pressure tested along with chilled
11.6 water piping system.
11.7 Flow test the drain tray and ensure water is drained out completely.
11.8 Hydro testing of chilled water pipes with 1.5times of the designed
pressure.

12. SAFETY:

12.1 All safety precautions shall be followed as per established project


safety planand procedure.
12.2 Only experienced and skilled technicians shall be engaged for
carrying out FCU installation work.
12.3 The people involved in the installation shall use PPE such as
safety helmets, safety shoes, safety harness, gloves, etc., as
required.
12.4 Safety officer shall check and ensure that all safety precautions are
followed.
12.5 Safety officer shall check and ensure that all scaffolding and
ladders used atsite are having duly signed tags.

15. SAFETY PRECAUTION: -

 HSE Induction: -
 Training shall be given to all the new joiners, site visitors or any Management Personal
and no untrained personal/team is allowed to enter the designated area.
 HSE Induction is the awareness about specific or general hazards related to the site and
different procedures and rules that need to be followed prior during and at the end of
any activity.
 HSE induction is done by main contractor and a record is kept with trainer and trainee

HSE Teams and Administration.


 No one shall be allowed to enter designated area without HSE Induction, a marking
sticker will be pasted on the Helmet of Attendees.
 HSE induction and NDA are for legal compliance and violators can be dealt with force.

 Safety Consideration

 Follow Material Safety Data Sheet [MSDS] instruction of approved manufacturer.


 All personals involved with the work shall be briefed on the safety, health and
environmental issues associated with the work.
 Only trained personnel, with relative experience, shall be allowed to handle
Equipment.
 Appropriate safety signboard, barriers, lighting and other safety requirements shall be
provided. All operations shall be carried out in accordance with safety requirements.
 All field personnel will use PPE safety requirements like safety shoes,
helmets, cover all, goggles, chemical masks, etc. as required.
 All the safe practices shall be adopted during work activities.
 Good housekeeping around work areas will be maintained.
 Facility to handle emergency situations, will be provided.
 Access to the working area will be displayed by sign board.
 MSDS will be available on site before the start of activity.
 Adequate washing facility will be provided, before the start of activity.

 Inspection Check List


 Inspector shall raise MIRs for material receiving inspection and WIRs installation inspection.
 QC Team shall monitor on-going works as per approved drawings, specifications and method
statement, shall identify non-conformances and quality issues, raise proactive notifications to
avoid NCR/LBE. In case, if NCR will be issued, the concerned party will take corrective
action immediately.
 Engineer, Supervisor, Team Leader shall make sure to apply and HSE Team will make sure
that mentioned and specific procedure are not only followed but are on continuous monitoring.
