Vocabulary: Word Play

Match the words in the middle column with their two definitions; one from the left column and one
from the right.

Functional Language: Talking About Problems

Decide the function of the following constructions, then what the video again to check your ideas.

Asking for help/presenting a problem Giving advice/solving the problem

Look again at the constructions above with the spaces ______________. Think about what
type of word could go in the space: noun, gerund, a tense? For some, more than one option
is correct.

Speaking: Role Plays

You are now going to produce your own shop scenario in which the customer asks for help
from the sales assistant. You can make up your own problems or use some of the vocabulary
from the first activity as inspiration. Make sure you use the constructions from this page in
your role plays.
