CHAPTER III

RESEARCH METHOD AND PROCEDURE

This chapter presents the methods used in collecting data, such as observation

and then analyzing data. Validity and reliability are processes that were implemented in

gathering and analyzing of the data.

Research Design

A research designed in line with the nature of the problem identified and the

questions to be addressed. The researcher employs to use qualitative method of

research where it discover the perception and also the behavior that will support the

construction of the hypothesis. At the same time the researcher used survey

questionnaire to gathered information relatively to the study, as they sought to describe

and confirm the factors affecting students on choosing BSCA program in Lyceum of the

Philippines University Batangas Campus.

Descriptive method means giving information about how something looks using

words to describe and providing facts. It involves gathering information about existing

conditions through a normative approach supported with descriptive analysis of data

gathered from the survey

Research design provides an overall direction for the collection and analysis of

data of a study. Importance of research design stems from its role as a critical link

between the theory and argument that informed the research and the empirical data
collected. A choice of research design reflects decision about the priority being given to

a range of dimensions of the research process. At this case survey questionnaire is the

method use by the researcher.

Research Sampling

The researcher used the purposive sampling to determine the respondents that

will make accomplishment to the research study. This non-probability sampling

techniques is used to select individuals that will help to answer questions and also to

attain the reliable and valid results data and information. The data gathered is based to

the prior knowledge, opinion and experience of the respondents. Also, the researcher

considered the availability of the people and their availability to interact prior to their

experience and opinion.

Since the study mainly focuses on the factors affecting the students to choose

the BSCA program. The people concerned with the research study are the students

who preferred to study this program. The sampling techniques restricted to the first year

students that greatly show the willingness to share their preferences and also their

reasons.

And with those information gathered will generalized and analyzed the results to

be used as the basis for the outcome of the effective research study by the used of non-

probability sampling method the purposive sampling.


Participants

The study mainly concerned on the factors affecting the students on choosing

BSCA program in Lyceum of the Philippines University Batangas Campus. For this

purpose, the study considered described, determined and assess the factors that

affecting their decision in choosing the program. To provide accurate information for this

study and evaluate the results.

To generate the findings the researchers randomly choose the first year students

who are under the BSCA program. This are randomly pick out of the 2 sections of

BSCA. This study is only limited to the students taking up this program and delimited to

those students from other course.

Research Environment

This study conducted at Lyceum of the Philippines University Batangas Campus

which the following respondents are the selected and randomly pick first year students.

This place will serve as the base of the study where the survey was conducted. The

proponent also assumed that the respondents are honest to their answers so that the

results they have gathered are valid enough to support the study.
Data Gathering Instrument

Enable to come up with validity of result, the researcher the first year students

taking the BSCA program

Furthermore, some of the first year students who are taking up the BSCA

program serve as the respondents to determine the factors of choosing this program.

The researcher conducted a survey thru questionnaire to the students to know the

factors that make them choose the program.

The gathered information is barely analyzed to come up with valid results.

Data Gathering Procedure

In order to distinguish some facts, reliable data and coherent knowledge to

effectively come up to a good outgrowth, the researcher rise to approach the use of

survey questionnaire and that is validated by the research adviser and make some

revisions.

Through survey questionnaire, the researcher formulate some thoughts and idea

that assists the finding about the study and have a significant data in accordance to the

factors that affecting their decisions on choosing this program and the researcher

conclude that with the use of this methods it can give the right of way to infer a

hypothesis.

With those gathered data will pass through exquisite rendition and interpretation

to finally draw on the needed answers and valid that can affirm facts about the study.
