Engineered for Higher-Quality Installation A Butler™ building is a modular

construction system that is

more economical and faster to
erect, requiring fewer parts than
conventional building systems.

What Can a Modular Building System Offer You?
Unlike a modular system, providers of conventional building systems require
you to perform on-site modifications and labour-intensive tasks when erecting
their building systems. ButlerTM Building Conventional
When you erect a modular system, such as a Butler™ building, you have the Custom engineered
building using tapered
Conventional design
using hot rolled sections
beams and columns
added benefits of;
Flat Long
Less steel in your buildings.
Clever transport packing including detailed installation direction and component
identification.
Building components delivered pre-punched for fast and precise installation.
No on-site modification of primary and secondary structurals.
No on-site modification of roof cladding and ancillary flashings.
No on-site welding of flange braces.
No on-site measures required.
No readjusting cable bracing during erection to keep the building plumb and square.
Fewer exposed fasteners for greater watertightness.
A comprehensive complete building weathertight warranty*
When you erect a modular building system you save time, labour and minimise
on-site disputes due to no mixed liability; creating greater precision and long-term
building performance.

Multiple Options - Ease of Installation

The Butler™ system offers options for top or vertical bolting to suit
builder and site requirements.
By offering multiple options, the Butler™ system allows the erector to stage
the primary structural/bracing sequence to meet site requirements.

Factory-welded brace clip connections are available with the Butler™ system.
Eliminate site bolting, reduce labour and assure greater precision.
Steel rods don’t stretch or deform during or after installation - saving time
and labour in replacements.
Rod bracing doesn’t require multiple tightening during erection. Simpler and faster to install.

The first facility we built, in Melbourne, we built conventionally. But because we were time
limited with this job and spent more time in the initial design process than intended, we
crunched the building time. Even so, BlueScope Buildings delivered on time and on budget.

Steve Torta, Senior Project Manager
For a project of this scale BlueScope Buildings was, without any doubt, the best steel Kell & Rigby
contractor I have worked with, in Sydney, in the past 20 years. Their BUTLER™ building
system impresses because it saves time and money. From a builder’s perspective this
equates to increased productivity, while for the client it means lower costs and faster
occupancy. In fact, I’m looking forward to doing more work with BlueScope Buildings
in the future.

Girt Cleat Option - Faster Installation and Fewer Parts

The system options allow the girt cleat to be bolted on-site or factory welded
to the column.
Pre-punched holes make for fast and accurate bolting on-site.
Girts can be by pass or flush.
C Channel or “core wall” girt can be used to support a non-load bearing tilt wall.
Butler™ design eliminates the girt channel at
exterior column locations and requires fewer parts.

MR-24™ Roof Clip Installation - Simpler and Faster

MR-24™ roof clip only requires a single Scrubolt™ fastener.
Factory punched with an off-centred hole in the clip base to speed installation.
MR-24™ clip design allows for roof movement, while preventing the clip
from disengaging or binding up due to seam misalignment.
Thinner, smaller stainless steel tab allows for tighter seam—no leaks mean
no callbacks.
Clips are available in three sizes to eliminate the need for roof rack or roof
riser systems to accommodate insulation requirements.
Factory-installed tab-centring sleeves
require no on-site adjustment.

Only one Scrubolt™ fastener is

required to install an MR-24™ roof clip.

Weathertight, Fewer Fasteners, No Guesswork

Laps are located directly over the purlin and are fully supported.
Compression splice is comprised of factory-welded stainless steel
studs on a backup plate. Aluminium top strap with stainless steel hex
nuts provides added strength and protection.
Factory-welded studs in factory-punched locations on the panel reduce
labour and require fewer panel penetrations.
MR-24™ panels are simpler to splice.
Factory-notched panels eliminate site cutting
and measuring.
Precut-to-length tape for waterproofing.
No self-drilling screws means no metal
shavings to clean up.
Fewer fasteners.

Splices are centred over purlins for

easier installation and full support.

Factory-punched aluminium top strap gives compression connection and precise
eave closure fit-up.
7.5m sections of roll-formed gutter enable fewer splices and fasteners.

Butler™ Fasteners - Superior Performance

A Scrubolt™ fastener has 50% more pullout strength and 62% more shear
strength than a self-drilling screw.
Using industry test values, a Scrubolt™ fastener installs three times faster than
a standard self-drilling screw.
Lock-Rivet™ fasteners create a tight connection to eliminate leaks.
Neither Lock-Rivet™ fasteners nor Scrubolt™ fasteners produce steel shavings
that require cleanup or maintenance.
