RELATIONS NSTP 1 HUMAN RELATIONS
- Is one person’s relationship or
connection with another person. It means how an individual man or woman is related or connected to another man or woman. - it implies how people interact and cooperate with each other when they come together in a group to achieve objectives. A study of human relations along with a clear understanding of its essentials helps us to know better:
• Our psychology and that of others with whom we
interact. • Why are our belief-system, prejudices, attitudes, and behaviors, sometime creates problems in our personal, professional and social life. • Which crucial steps we must take to mitigate and solve relationship-related problems from our life? • How to utilize the obtained knowledge appropriately and implement the learned skills to build, improve, enhance and maintain healthy relationships with others HUMAN RELATION MOSTLY INCLUDE OR REVOLVE AROUND: • Interactions happening among people, • Conflicts that arise out of these interactions • Collaborations formed if conflicts get resolved successfully, and • Groups emerged as a result of such successful collaborations. TEN COMMANDMENTS OF HUMAN RELATIONS • Speak graciously to people • Smile at people • Call people by first name • Be friendly and helpful. • Be cordial. • Be considerate of the feelings of others • Be thoughtful of the opinion of others • Be alert to give service • Be genuinely interested in people • Be generous with praise, be cautious with criticism. ROOTS OF FILIPINO CHARACTER The strengths and weaknesses of the Filipino have their roots in many factors such as: THE FAMILY AND HOME ENVIRONMENT The main components of the home environment: • Child rearing practices – characterized by high nurturance, low discipline, over protection, low discipline. • Family relations – in a large family where we are encouraged to get along with our siblings and other relatives we learn pakikipagkapwa-tao. –In an authoritarian setting we learn respect for age and authority; at the same time we become passive and dependent on authority. –Children are taught to value family and to give FAMILY ATTITUDE AND ORIENTATION • Family orientation – the Filipino’s family orientation may be attributed to the colonial times when the hierarchical structure of family has been in prevalent place, where age and status demand high levels of respect, and the good of the family takes precedence over personal desires. This characteristics is still present despite modern times. THE SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT The social environment of the Filipino is characterized by a feudal structure with great gaps between the rich minority and the poor majority. • The main components of the social environment are: • Social structures • Social systems such as interpersonal religious, community interaction CULTURE AND LANGUAGE Language and Culture cannot be separated. Language is vital to understanding our unique cultural perspectives. Language is a tool that is used to explore and experience our cultures and the perspectives that are embedded in THE EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM Aside from the problems inherent in the use of a foreign language in our educational system, the educational system leads to other problems for us as a people. –The lack of suitable textbooks and dependence on foreign textbooks, particularly in the higher school levels. –Schools are highly authoritarian with the teacher as the central focus –The Filipino students learns passivity and conformity. RELIGION Religion is the root of Filipino optimism and its capacity to accept life’s hardships. However, religion also instils in the Filipino attitudes of resignation and a pre-occupation with the afterlife. We become vulnerable also to being victimized by opportunism oppression, exploitation, MASS MEDIA • It means technology that is intended to reach a mass audience. • It is primary means of communication used to reach the vast majority of the general public. • The most common flat forms for media are newspaper, magazines radio, television. And the latest is the internet LEADERSHIP AND ROLE MODELS Filipinos look up to their leaders as role models, political leaders are the main models, but all other leaders serve as the role models as well. Thus, when our leaders violate the law or show themselves to be self-serving and driven by personal interest– when there is lack of public accountability– there is a negative impact on the Filipino. VALUES FORMATION PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PLANS VALUES FORMATION –Etymologically, the word values comes from the latin word “valere” which means “ to measure the worth of something” –Values are the elements of life prevailing in any society. They lie at the core of man’s life, they color his choice. They shape and determine an individual’s group’s decision, to like or dislike, favor or disfavor, change or not to change. –Values is a principle or quality intrinsically valuable, important or desirable to you –Values are personal. Your convictions, beliefs, ethics rolled into one –Values are not inherent they are socially developed. PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PLANS –Enhances the qualities you hold within you makes your dreams and aspirations turn into a reality. Your potential is limitless and investing in personal development is a way to harness your many talents. –Establishing aims and goals for what you want to achieve, where you would like to go in the short term or long term, can improve your personal development. • Personal development – is the process of improving oneself through conscious habits and activities. In short, WHY DO YOU NEED A PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN? –It will help you to make better decisions and remind yourself where you want to go. –Good preparation increases the probability of success and decreases the risk of things going wrong along the way. • In writing it you need to think about the goals you want to achieve, ways in which you need to improve and develop and design a plan. PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN GUIDE • What do I want to make out of my life? • What are my goals and ambitions? • What is currently standing in my way achieving these goals? –After answering those questions, you can relate a personal plan that contains a few key components. PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR WORK • When developing a personal development plan for work, you should focus on SMART goals.
