24. What is a nasal?
A nasal consonant is that the air escapes through the nose.
25. What are the nasals in English?

The nasal consonants - m, n, g - and four others - l, r, w, j;

26. Transcribe the words bulb and bubble. How many syllables has each of them?
Bulb: bʌlb – there are 3 consonants
Bubble: bʌbəl – there are 3 consonants

27. There are three English sounds defined as alveolar fricatives; which?
In English, the sibilants are /s/, /z/, /ʃ/

28. Describe the differences between them.


There are many differences the most important is the position of the tonge and
labiodental.

The first sound is /J/
