III. Definitions:
1. Neighbourhood - The area where we live and the places around us make up our
neighbourhood.

2. Equipment - The items required for a particular activity or a particular game to


play.
Eg:- To play cricket we need bat, ball and stumps. So, these are equipments.

3. Professional - Playing a sport or doing an activity as a job rather than for


enjoyment.

IV. Question and answers:


1. What are indoor and outdoor games?
A) The games that we play inside the house are called indoor games.
Eg:- Chess, Carroms, Snake & ladder etc.
The games that we play outside the house are called outdoor games.
Eg:- Cricket, Hockey, Volleyball etc.

2. Who is a professional player?


A) Some people play a particular sport to earn their living. Such people are called
professional players.

3. What are team games?


A) Games such as cricket and football require a number of players to play. Such
games are called team games.

4. How do games help us make friends?


A) We learn to adjust, accept new players, try to help each other with good tricks
in a team and thus games help us make friends.

5. What are party games?


A) The games that are played for special functions and during get together are
called party games.
Eg:- Tambola, Musical chair etc.

6. What is recreation?
A) Spending time doing something different from the routine is called recreation. It is
the way to relax our body and mind.
V. Give reasons for the following:

1. Team games are usually played in larger spaces.


• It needs more players.
• It is mostly structured with lots of rules and conditions.
• Often requires huge arrangements for playing.

2. Children love to play indoor games when the weather outside is bad.
• Children love to play indoor games when the weather outside is bad because
it affects their health and they may fall sick.

3. Playing is good for our mind and body.


• It improves our health and concentration.
• Gives us relaxation and we feel active and confident.
• Develops friendship among the children.
• Makes our body strong and active.

4. Some games can be team games and outdoor games as well.


• Games like kho-kho, football etc are outdoor games as well as team games
because they have more number of players and are usually played in open
areas.
