CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

The most important thing that everybody can have is technology. Technology might be the great
assistance to those who need communication, especially for those who are far away from each
other. People can still communicate with each other due to technological advancements. There are
many purpose that the technology has. Communication via technology has become a necessity, it
has become a part of our daily lives. Emails, mails, mobile phones, messaging services, video calls,
chats, and social media networks are also used to connect. And as the time goes by, many new
technologies will change the way we interact with each other whether we will adapt it or not. Now
that our nation is in the midst of the most serious conflict in its history, everyone should be aware
of what is going on.

At this present time of pandemic, the government has decided to implement an online learning
system to prevent all students from the increasing number of virus cases. Officials and also the
Department of Education are being united to ensure that the Online Learning will happen according
to their systematic and organize policies. Many people thinks that this kind of system will be more
difficult than the usual educational system because students and teachers needs to provide mobile
devices for them to have connection with each other. Technology infuses virtual classrooms to
interactive learning resources like computers and hand-held devices to facilitate both teaching and
learning behaviors. Technology has the potential to transform education by today's technologically
advanced concept of connected learning.

This model connects teachers with their students as well as professional materials, tools, and
programs to assist them in improving their own learning and providing personalized teaching. By
enhancing the level of learning, reducing expenses involved with teaching materials or teaching
methods, and better managing teaching time, online learning opportunities and the use of online
teaching programs and other technology will improve educational performance. Schools may use
digital tools to promote teaching and learning in a certain ways. Technology can be used to enhance
learning in a variety ways, including digital books, digital modules, and actual feedback on teacher
and student progress. Students who need more time to interpret and understand the lessons will be
able to successfully gain their knowledge by the help of technology.
In addition to this study, everyone must be more careful and be responsible for the things that they
have to do and adapt during the virtual classes. As a students, we need to continously learn and
adapt the changes in order to be more productive and value the things that we spend in learning by
ourselves.

There are many tools or applications that is needed to help each students communicate with their
teachers and also in their classmates. Being updated and connected to everyone is the best way to
know the possible outcomes that these educational system develop successfully, easier, and
effective in achieving our expectations in learning. Technology was invented so that we can do our
tasks or any things that will make our lives more easier and better.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The general purpose of these study is to know the impact of using Messenger Application to the
Online Learning Students ents of Grade 11 ICT Sections of Notre Dame of Trece Martires. It will be
the answer to the following questions:

1. What is the socio-demographic profile of the students in terms of:

a. Age:

b. Gender:

2. Is Messenger will be the best way to communicate in Online Learning Studies?

3. Is Messenger Application enough to help the students in Online Learning?


OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

General Objective :

- To study the impact of using Messenger Application to the Online Learning Students of Grade 11
ICT Sections of Notre Dame

Specific Objectives :

- To know the possible behavior of the Grade 11 ICT Students that affects their performance in
Online Learning

- To identify the importance of Messenger Application to to the ICT Students of Notre Dame

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

TO THE STUDENTS. It will help them to communicate with their teachers and classmates. And it
also helps them to be careful and aware in what they say when it comes to communication and
student behavior. It also helps them to keep their private informations.

TO THE TEACHERS. Teachers will learn from the conclusions and recommendations of this
research. They will be able to monitor and evaluate the student's profiles, behavior, and academic
achievements, especially those who have access to technological/electronic devices that can
connect to social media networks.

TO THE FUTURE RESEARCHERS. This research will provide the baseline data for future research
and studies in this area.
SCOPE AND DELIMITATIONS

This study will focus on the impact of using the Messenger Application for communication to
the students and how they handled some of the conflicts that they have encountered. This research
will be conducted on selected students of Notre Dame of Trece Martirez, School Year 2020-2021.
The students who chose the Online Learning Modality in Grade 11 ICT Sections will be the
participants of the study.
CHAPTER 2

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

" Through effective communication, which includes verbal and non-verbal communication
methods, teams have the potential to collaborate in order to meet a goal or complete a project
efficiently. Several skills contribute to the effectiveness of communication. Some include clarity,
empathy, active listening, and conciseness when communicating a message. Communication serves
many purposes within personal and professional relationships. "

" Each individual taking part in the communication should understand the uses, advantages, and
disadvantages of the tool being used. Although there is still significant value held in face-to-face
communication, technological advances in the realm of communication have eliminated constraints
such as time and space. Communication through technology has clear advantages; however, a piece
of communication that is lost virtually is the non-verbal aspect which can affect the reception or
tone of the message being sent. "

" Through the exchange of messages, members of the educational team can relay positive
information or concerns that likely affect a student’s functioning outside the scope of their
respective professional view of the student. The effective use of teams in an educational setting
provides systematic, holistic support for students. This system acts as a safety net to maintain a
student’s positive outlook on the educational environment. "
