My Initial idea of diversity was about having differences in terms of beliefs,
practices, principles, culture, and race. But, upon reading the text I learned that diversity
is more than those things. Diversity is when we embrace differences and practise and
acknowledge an inclusive society.

Inside the classroom. Racism, discrimination, bullying are always present.

Having our population growing as the times go by, diversity should always be practised,
it will be the reason for a much better community and much better understanding
between people of different races.

In the first picture we can see students who are different in race but is happily
together. This picture is a very good example of diversity because it shows that
achieving camaraderie among others does not require and does not depend on the
color of your skin, language you speak, or even the cultures you practise.

Inclusion for the People with Special Needs is the main topic of the 2nd picture.
Learning to correctly label the people who has special needs is also the main purpose
of embracing diversity because even If you have disability you are still valid. Because,
diversity encourages innovation and problem solving because it will help people
understand things that other people can, everyone will come into an understanding, all
will be equally challenged and everyone can benefit.

Activity 2.2 EVALUATE

1. By means of graphic organizer, identify the factors that bring about diversity in
the classroom.

- The factors that bring about diversity in a classroom are 1)

Socioeconomic status - Class decides connections among families and individuals
who have nearly nothing or restricted monetary assets and the people who are rich.
Financial status is the monetary state of an individual or gathering. The financial
status of a family or individual is estimated based on occupation, instructive
fulfillment, pay, riches and influence. 2) Thinking/ learning style - People with a
thinking/learning style will generally zero in additional on the design and capacity of
data and articles. Thinking students use objectivity and rationale when managing
issues and choices. These students regularly base choices on close to home
thoughts of right, wrong, decency, and equity, and 3) Exceptionalities -
Exceptionalities alludes to physical constraints and furthermore to understudies with
enthusiastic or conduct problems (EBD), or consideration shortage/hyperactivity
issue.
1. Find a slogan/quotes/sayings that celebrate diversity in the classroom and
explain what it means.

- One of my favorite American poet Maya Angelou said “in diversity there
is beauty and there is strength.” Regular, our homerooms, neighborhoods and
networks become more assorted (or unique). Individuals from various nations,
societies, religions and with extraordinary capacities, religions and convictions keep
on fanning out around the world. Distinctive skin tones, dialects, actual capacities
and garments are a portion of the kinds of variety that we experience each day.

How we react to this variety will decide your future as an individual as well as our
future as a general public. Resilience implies being available to the distinctions that
exist among us every one of us. It implies regarding and gaining from others,
esteeming our disparities and finding what we share for all intents and purpose.

Something contrary to resilience is bias and shut mindedness. Where there is

harassing, wars, battles and contentions, there is frequently bias and shut
mindedness.

Interestingly, individuals who are available to contrasts won't just make a more quiet
world, yet have better open doors in life whether through schooling, work or
companionship. So having resistance won't just completely change yourself to
improve things, yet will make the world a superior spot.

2. Cite five (5) teaching strategies and explain how these teaching strategies
consider student diversity.

1) Encourage learners to share their personal history and experiences. In

this way the teacher and the students themselves will know and determine their
similarities and differences.

2) Adapt to the students' diverse backgrounds and learning styles by

allowing them personal choice and decision-making opportunities concerning
what they will learn and how they will learn it. It allows the students to create
interaction with others and make an effort to choose on what they want to learn
and make their own learning more positive because it is something they want,
having these will result into a less guidance from the teachers.

3) Diversify your methods of assessing and evaluating student learning.

Having this strategy applied, the teacher can ask the students on what will be the
preferred format of learning for all with the help of your initiation the students can
now learn in a more effective way.
4) Vary the examples you use to illustrate concepts in order to provide
multiple contexts that are relevant to students from diverse backgrounds.
Providing examples for the students would require you to have an ample amount
of ideas, methods, or visuals to show in order for the diverse learners to
understand all the learning.

5) Purposely, form small-discussion groups of students from diverse

backgrounds. You can form groups of students with different learning styles,
different cultural background, etc. As the saying goes by “No man is an island”
every students has their own ideas and opinions, grouping them will be a big help
enriching and widening the learning styles of each students.
