INTRODUCTION
Running is one of the most fundamental
skills one can learn and apply in many popular
sports. Games that children play will also involve
running, and success in these games usually
entails being able to chase the opponent or avoid
being caught by them. One such game is
“Capture the flag”, which has a similar local
counterpart called “agawan base”, a game known to
most Filipino children. To capture the flag, first
the group is divided into two equal areas. Each
team’s flag will be placed in the opposing area.
The main objective of the game is for the team
members to bring the flag back to their area.
Members of the team will be tagged if they are in the opposing team’s area, and will be unable to play until
their team mates tag them and set them free.

History of Running
Running is considered one of the oldest
sporting events in history. Winners in running events

military schools became popular in the 19th century

1960’s, a boom in athletics saw champion runners
from Africa and the Caribbean, as well as other
developing countries, the 1896 Games of the
Olympiad help in Athens, Greece women’s events
only started in 1928 in Amsterdam. In the modern era,
running has become a popular activity for the young
and old people alike as an exercise that helps develop
endurance and at the same time helps with weight
management and reduces risk for cardiovascular-related diseases.

They should preferably be
1. lightweight with ample cushioning and arch support if necessary to avoid
injury and discomfort during longer runs.
2. An allowance between the tip of the shoe and the end of your big toe is
desirable
3. Snug fitting socks should also be used to absorb sweat and to prevent blisters
from forming on the heel and toes.
4. Clothing should be light and breathable (allowing sweat to evaporate) and prevent
skin from chafing
