LANGUAGE TESTING AND EVALUATION

ASSIGNMENT (30%): WRITTEN

PRESENTATION AND SUBMISSION: *up to your tutor

Design a test paper with 30 MCQ questions and a report that describes the details of the test
paper.

What you have to do:


1. The general details should include:
 Overview of assignment
 Duration of test
 Type of questions
 What was the purpose of the test?

2. The details on the preparation of the test should include:


(In general, you should explain how the test was developed.)
 Was reference made to the curriculum, syllabus, revision books, text-books?
 Was there discussion? How many times?
 How was the test developed refined? What steps were taken?
 How was the distribution of the questions with respect to difficulty determined? What was the
rationale?
 What was done in order to write the instructions for the test?
 When developing the test items, what were the guidelines you used?
 You need to show your table of test specification and explain the rationale for it. You can show two
versions of the table of Test Specification – one showing the number of questions, the other showing the
item numbers
 In the table of Test Specification, please indicate in the column ”Skills/Teaching Objectives”, the
learning outcome specification that is being tested e.g. for Form 5, you may want to test the
following specification: 1.1 (iii) Asking simple questions politely to get information and responding
appropriately to questions (based on current syllabus).
 You need to refer to several sources throughout this assignment. There should be a minimum of 6
references and at least three different sources of references

Submission Guidelines

1. Your assignment should be typed on A4 paper using 12 point Times New Roman and
1.5 spacing.
2. All documents including graphs, tables and charts, should be labelled appropriately.
3. Include Reference list.
