Intro to subject, definitions of various types of pressures, principles of pressure
measurement, tube gauges, piezometer, manometer, simple manometer, micro

manometer (vertical tube & inclined tube type), differential manometer, inverted
differentia manometer.
Mechanical gauges, Bourdons’ tube, diaphragm & dead weight pressure gauges,
Hydrostatic forces on submerged surfaces, total pressure on horizontally, vertically

& inclined immersed surfaces, Depth of center of pressure of vertically & inclined
immersed surfaces, pressure on a composite section, pressure on a curved surface.
Equilibrium of floating bodies, Archimedes’ principle, force of buoyancy, center of
buoyancy, metacenter & metacenteric height, determination of metacenteric height

by experimental & analytical methods, conditions of equilibrium of floating bodies -
stable equilibrium, unstable equilibrium, neutral equilibrium.
