Background Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) is a leading humanitarian organization in Uganda and
information: through its mandate, it is important that it plays its role in averting the crisis of low vaccine
uptake and wastage due to expiry of vaccine which might also trigger retraction of vaccine
donations which are already in the pipeline. Based on this background, URCS has committed
to support this accelerated vaccination campaign against COVID-19 in Kampala Metropolitan
Area, KMA.
Overall objective: To create public awareness of the Accelerated COVID-19 Mass Vaccination exercise in the
Kampala Metropolitan Area (Kampala, Mukono, Wakiso and Entebbe)
Output for the  High priority target groups among the population in their respective villages for the
intended activity: Accelerated COVID-19 Mass Vaccination mobilized.
 Capacity of the VCTF (VHTs, LCs & RCVs) in community mobilization towards the
demand generation for COVID-19 Vaccine uptake in the Kampala Metropolitan Area
during the Accelerated COVID-19 Mass Vaccination (ACMV) exercise conducted.
 VCTF (VHTs, LCs & RCVs) oriented on the monitoring and follow up of the priority
groups on completion of the second dose of AstraZeneca & Pfizer.
Implementation The Program Officer-CBS in coordination with URCS Health Officers in KMA, will liaise
responsibilities with the respective District/ Division Health Educators, to mobilize the Parish VHT
Coordinators, Vaccination Site Coordinators, URCS BMs, BFPs from Kampala, Mukono,
Wakiso & Entebbe to attend a half day orientation on the Social Mobilization for The
Accelerated COVID-19 Mass Vaccination in Kampala Metropolitan Area.

The Program Officer-CBS, will facilitate this orientation with WHO Ug. team lead by Prof
(Dr) ONIMISI Anthony Baba & Isaac Sugar Ray.

The Prog. Officer-CBS, will liaise with the IT department to set up the zoom link for this
virtual orientation
