10 Seorang pakar nutrisi menjalankan satu kajian tentang hubungan antara makanan ibu dan pertumbuhan bayi.
57 orang ibu dipilih secara rawak sebagai sampel dalam kajian ini. Sampel ini kemudian dibahagi kepada dua
kumpulan. Selama tiga bulan, dua jenis makanan rumusan istimewa yang berlainan diberikan kepada ibu-ibu
tersebut sebagai makanan tambahan selain daripada makanan normal harian yang dimakan oleh mereka. Ibu-
ibu tersebut terus menyusu bayi mereka selama tiga bulan. Berikut merupakan fakta nutrisi dua jenis makanan
rumusan tersebut. / A nutritionist carried out an investigation about the relationship of the mother’s diet and the
growth of babies. 57 mothers were randomly chosen to be the sample in this investigation. The sample was then
separated into two groups. For about three months, two different types of special formulated foods were given to the
mothers as supplement other than the normal daily diet they had already been having. The mothers continued breast-
feeding their babies for the three months. The following are the nutrition facts of these two types of formulated food.

it was observed that the babies of mothers who took formula K as supplement have lower average
height compared to the other group. Suggest one reason for this observation by comparing the two
formulas. Explain the factors that you compare between these two formulas.
Formula K mengandungi jumlah kalsium dan fosforus yang kurang walaupun ia mengandungi lebih
banyak lemak. Kalsium adalah penting untuk pertumbuhan tulang. Lebih banyak kalsium diambil oleh
bayi, lebih panjang tulangnya. Ini menambahkan ketinggiannya.
Formula K contains less amount of calcium and phosphorus although it contains more fat. Calcium is important

for the growth of bones. The more calcium the babies take, the longer bones they have. This increases their height.

The validity of the results of this investigation is questionable. The mothers were having different daily diets which

may vary in terms of nutrition facts. These diets may affect the growth of baby to various degrees. The growth of
babies is not affected by merely the formula provided.
