Do you know any scientists or scholars? Who is your favorite one? What did he or she

Ibn Sina, the First Islamic Scientist to Design a Quarantine during an Outbreak
Facing the corona virus pandemic or COVID-19, quarantine and isolation strategies are the
main policies around the world. Quarantine and isolation develop into various forms, with the
aim of limiting contact with the surrounding environment and suppressing transmission.
Quoted from Morocco World News, there are several historical records regarding the
quarantine methods in use today. Quarantine is for people who have no symptoms but are at
risk of becoming infected with the disease. The quarantine method is carried out by those
who come from infected areas or contact with patients.
Historical evidence of the application of quarantine is written in The Canon of Medicine by
the Muslim scientist Ibn Sina or Avicenna. Ibn Sina, also known as Abu Ali Sina, Pur Sina,
and often known in the West as Avicenna , was a Persian polymath who is regarded as one
of the most significant physicians, astronomers, thinkers and writers of the Islamic Golden
Age, and the father of early modern medicine. Of the 450 works he is believed to have
written, around 240 have survived, including 150 on philosophy and 40 on medicine.
Ibn Sina was the first doctor to design a quarantine method to prevent transmission of
infectious diseases. This method is called Al-Arba'iniya or the fortieth which is translated as
quarantena in the early Venetian language. As the name implies, Al-Arba'iniya is a sanitary
isolation which is carried out for 40 days by limiting space and movement.
The effectiveness and success of quarantine to suppress the spread of the epidemic, has
resulted in this method being used continuously until now. Of course, the mechanism and
duration adjust to the conditions of the outbreak, so it doesn't have to be 40 days.
