SCOPE:
This course will provide training for maintenance flight procedures on the AS350B3 and/or EC130
helicopters equipped with Arriel 2B1 or Arriel 2D engines.
Classroom instruction will provide detailed information relating to the AS350 B3/EC130 aircraft flight
manual section 8.3 and applicable performance charts. Relevant aircraft systems, regulations, and ADs
will be reviewed. A detailed preflight inspection will also be performed. Flight training includes approx.
1.5 hours of functional ground checks, hover checks, and flight checks.
OBJECTIVE:
Classroom instruction will provide detailed information relating to the AS350 B3/EC130 aircraft flight mTo
give the maintenance test pilot a thorough understanding of the requirements for evaluating aircraft
performance after aircraft and/or engine maintenance actions.
COURSE PREREQUISITES:
In special circumstances any of the above requirements may be waived with the approval of Airbus
Helicopters, Inc.’s Chief Flight Instructor.

The stated duration of the course is based on two student pilots per course. Additional student pilots may
change the duration of the flight portion of the course. Airbus Helicopters Inc. instructor pilots fly a
maximum of 4.5 hours per day.

Ground School 7.0 Hours
Day 1
SCOPE: This block of instruction will cover the required flight performance checks listed in section
8.3 of the Flight Manual. Along with the detailed explanation of the ground, hover, and flight
checks, examples will be given and applicable aircraft systems will be reviewed and explained.
The student will receive copies of the flight test sheets to prepare and use for the flight training.
SCOPE: This block of instruction will cover the general AS350B3/EC130 and Turbomeca
ARRIEL 2B1/2D Airworthiness Directives that may apply to the Maintenance Test Pilot.
SCOPE: This block of instruction will cover the effect of a sand filter (SUPP 14) on engine
performance. Engine Health Check Charts for aircraft equipped with sand filters will be explained
and examples given. The effect on performance by other additional equipment will also be
discussed.
SCOPE: This block of instruction will cover relevant FAA regulations concerning maintenance,
airworthiness, inspections, record keeping, and intervals. This will guide the Maintenance Test
Pilot in complying with FARs pertaining to maintenance test flights.
Day 2
SCOPE: This block of instruction will cover a detailed review of the VEMD, with emphasis on the
maintenance function.
SCOPE: This block of instruction will cover a detailed preflight inspection, including the aircraft
preparation for the maintenance test flight. Upon termination of the flight, the aircraft will be re-
inspected, the records evaluated, and logs filled out and signed off.

Flight Training 1.5 Hours
Day 2 continued
SCOPE: This block of instruction will cover the required pre-start checks in accordance with
section 4 and SHEET1 of section 8.3 of the Flight Manual. The VEMD will be configured for the
test flight and performance data checked and entered. A ground run will be performed according
to SHEET 2 of section 8.3 of the Flight Manual.
SCOPE: This block of instruction will cover the hover checks in accordance with SHEET 3 of
section 8.3 of the Flight Manual.
SCOPE: This block of instruction will cover the flight checks in accordance with SHEETS 4-7 of
section 8.3 of the Flight Manual. An engine shut-down will be performed in accordance with
section 4 and SHEET 2 of section 8.3 of the Flight Manual.
