ADVERBS

Adverbs - are words that modify, intensify or limit the meaning


of a verb, an adjective or another verb.

Classes of
Adverbs

1. Adverb of time - answer the question “when” 2. Adverb of place-


answer the question "where" 3. Adverb of manner- answer the question
“how" 4. Adverb of frequency - answer the question “how often” 5. Adverb
of negation and affirmation an action or characteristics 6. Adverb of doubt or

CONJUNCTIONS

Conjunction - joins together words phrases, clauses or sentence. It


shows the relationship between the two words or group of words that it
connects.

Kinds of Conjunction

1. Coordinators- it ties together word or word- groups which have the same
grammatical
construction.

Ex.
I study English and Mathematics (Nouns) We sung and dance heartily
(Verbs) He worked rapidly but carefully (Adverb) We can go if
father permits us and if he gives us money (Dependent Clause)

Classified coordinators are the paired conjunctions


called correlatives

2. Connectors - these are conjunction which join independent clause


with the dependent
- Clause They are used as transition words in a
sentence Ex. - He studies hard; therefore, he makes
progress

INTERJECTION

Interjection – is a word or word group use to express a strong or sudden


emotion. It is thrown
into the sentence even it has no grammatical bearing with the other words
Generally, an interjection is marked with an

An interjection is an utterance characterized


expressively of a surprise, a sudden pain, a prolonged
pain, a disgust, an anger, a laughter, a sorrow, an
impatience, a wonder, a disappointment and the like.
