SYNOPSIS

The Manual is in three parts. First is the standard, “Details and Detailing of Concrete Reinforcement (ACI 315-99).” This
document is divided into three sections: one addressed to the engineer; one to the detailer; and the third provides tables and
figures. It attempts to define the responsibilities of both engineer and detailer, and establishes standards of practice for showing
reinforcement details in both engineering and placing drawings. The second part of the Manual is the report, ACI 315R-04,
“Manual of Structural and Placing Drawings for Reinforced Concrete Structures.” It is a selection of foldout drawings accom-
panied by commentary, for both highway and nonhighway reinforced structures. The third part of the Detailing Manual
consists of supporting reference data.

Keywords: beams (supports); bending (reinforcing steels); bridges (structures); buildings; columns (supports); computers; concrete construction; concrete
slabs; detailing; drafting (drawing); engineering drawings; fabrication; floor systems; foundations; hooked reinforcement; precast concrete; prestressed con-
crete; reinforced concrete; reinforcing steels; splicing; stirrups; structural design; ties (reinforcement); tolerances (mechanics); walls; welded wire fabric.

This document is available as a separate publication.
