5.2 Procedure Detail

5.2.1 Surface preparation and treatment
Floor/Roof slab and slope cement mortar in accordance to indicated in approved Drawing;
All surfaces must be free of grease, oil and dust. Very smooth surfaces should be
roughened for better adhesion. Loose rust, moss, lichens, crumbling cement, deteriorated
fiber cement and degraded bituminous substances must be removed either mechanically

or chemically;
Surface faults such as blisters, holes and cracks should be cleaned out, then repaired with
a flexible filler such as silicon, mastic, etc. Small hairline cracks can be painted with bitumen
waterproofing emulsion by brush in, allow in dry then repeat until filled or at least sealed;
Arises shall be rounded off and surface protrusions shall be grind down to ensure a smooth
substrate;
All standing water shall be removed from the surface.

5.2.2 Bituminous primer coat- Sikaproof Membrane

Before applying, the surface temperature must be within 5ºC - 40ºC. If temperature is too
high, surfaces should be cooled down by water. Surface should be moist but water is not
allowed to remain on the surface (Shall be free from Standing Water);
It is imperative that Bitumen Waterproofing Emulsion is applied to a clean surface to ensure
a firm enduring bond to substrate;
Application shall be by brush roller or squeegees on to the previously prepared substrate;
Add 20-50% Water of Sikaproof Membrane and mix thoroughly. Prime the surface by brush
or Roller(Spray). Allow to completely dry prior to the application of further coats;
Apply Sikaproof Membrane be ensure that uniformed thickness to obtain a Pinhole-free
surface.

5.2.3 Waterproofing membrane- BAUMERK P 3000

The cold applied bituminous primer shall be applied on the substrate for the first membrane
layer;
The membrane is fully bonded to the substrate by the torch-on method using a gas torch;
Unroll and position the membrane roll with the Polyethylene film surface on the substrate.
Roll out half a roll length, heating the membrane reverse with the gas Flame until it melts
the Polyethylene film and bitumen mass, and allowing continuous unrolling;
The torch-on membrane must be firmly pressed onto the substrate in order to avoid air
entrapment using a special roller or heavy brush;
Repeat this procedure with the second half of the roll;

All membranes must be overlapped by a min. 100 mm for joints and 150 mm for ends;
The seams must be finished with a roller to prevent the formation of any gaps or voids.
Special care shall be taken when waterproofing round openings, joints, ducts and
embedded parts;

Install and complete the system to assure that no water leakage through the system occurs.
Waterproofing membrane

5.2.4 Liquid Waterproofing Coat- SikaTop Seal 107

Concrete, mortar and masonry surfaces must be clean, free from grease, oil and loosely
adhering particles. All surfaces must be as true and flat as possible. Saturate absorbent
surfaces thoroughly with water before application;
SikaTop Seal 107 can be applied by trowel, notched trowel, stiff bristle, or spray equipment.
Work the material well into the prepared substrate, filling all pores and voids;
For brush consistency: Apply the first coat of SikaTop Seal 107 with horizontal brush
strokes and leave to harden (4 to 8 hours). Apply the second coat with vertical brush strokes;
For trowel consistency: Apply the first coat with a notched trowel and leave to harden (4 to
8 hours). Apply the second coat with a flat trowel;
For spray application: Use a hopper gun spray equipment, textured sprayer (e.g. Texspray
E110c), or a rotor/stator pump equipment. Allow the first coat to harden (4 to 8 hours) prior
to the application of the second coat. As soon as the mortar layer starts to set, a uniform
surface texture can be obtained by rubbing the surface with a fine sponge or a plastic trowel.
Do not overwork SikaTop Seal 107 during finishing and avoid the use of additional water.
[Where required, a third coat of SikaTop Seal 107 may be applied no later than 24 hours
after the second coat (in this case, do not trowel or sponge finish the second coat). If
intercoat period exceeds 24 hours, light grit blasting is required prior to further application].

5.2.5 Water leak test

Leak test should be done after proper application of membrane prior to applying any
subsequent layer;
Plug all drains in the area to be tested and provide temporary containment dykes where
needed;
Flood the test area with 25~100 mm of water.
For underground water tank and Swimming pool, test with design water level;
Provide temporary dykes, if the flood height exceeding 100mm at the lower end of the slab;
If leak test is done in portions with temporary dykes, testing to start from the top portion;
Tested water shall be released into the next pool by opening the temporary dyke;
Leak test will take 24 hours.

5.2.6 Thermal insulation board installation

Thermal insulation board of 50 mm thick, shall be provided in accordance to approved MAR;
Insulation board shall be laid over water proofing membrane after the leak test;
Insulation board shall be bonded and fixed properly to avoid and leave during next stage;
Each board shall be installed in a pattern as per available edge profile;
Bonding Material(Bituminus) for fixing Insulation shall be applied for reinforce fixing;
Taping shall be applied in Joint Area for insulation board.

5.2.7 Vapour barrier / P.E film
