 1. Description
The davit for work in suspension is installed on the roof or any other structure and allowing a
worker to carry out facade cleaning and maintenance works.
The davit is fixed on a series of sockets, installed along the parapet and at intervals of 2.5 m. At
the davit is suspended a seat, a cradle or an abseiler.
Due to its compact dimensions and reduced weight the davit can be assembled by one person.
The suspended load shall not exceed 240 kg.
The davit consists of:
1- Anchor points of main and secondary ropes.
2- Rotating arm

 2. Declaration of conformity.
Fallprotec declares that the suspension rig has been calculated and tested in accordance with
EN1808: 2015, taking into account the following characteristics:

• Maximum working load WLL = 240 kg.

• Length of outboard portion L0 = 1400 mm.
• Distance between bolts which withstand the overturning moment Ls = 315 mm.
• Distance between the fulcrum and the point where SWR acts, Lb = 465 mm.
• Dead weight of the davit SWR = 75 kg
• Vertical reaction on the bolts Rv = 1.485daN / bolt
• Maximum permissible load on the bolts Rd = 1.667 daN > Rv.
• Bolts Hilti HST M16 embedment 100 mm in B25 concrete.
• Stability coefficient Cwr> 3.

The stability and strength of the davit was checked in the workshop by applying a static load of
720 kg for 3 minutes, the davit was not tilted and no permanent deformation was observed.

 3. Rigging

1st Step : Fix the socket by 4 M16 bolts on the floor

2nd Step : Fix the mast on the socket by means of the 1st fixing pin (do not forget the safety pin)

 3rd Step: Raise the mast and put the second fixing pin (do not forget the safety pin)

4th Step: Introduce the arm on the mast

 4. Preliminary check.
The following verifications are mandatory before using the davit:
• The user of the davit must be in good physical conditions.
• The user must have been trained to use the davit and the lifting device used in
combination with the davit.
• At least two certified persons are needed when some work is performed. One of them
will help the other in case of accident.
• No more than 1 person attaches to the davit except in the event of a rescue operation or
Fallprotec agrees that 2 people will be suspended at the same davit.
• That there is no obstruction in the facade which hinders the movement of the
suspended load.
• That barriers to the ground prohibit public access under the work area.
• That barriers are provided around the davit, if the public has access to the area.
• The user checks the correct operation of the equipment:
o Good condition of the ropes and the carabiner.
o The operation of the hoist, the descender and the secondary device.
• The equipment must be taken out of service if the user observes one or more anomalies.

 5. Davit use
• The davit has 2 different configurations:
o Storage configuration, mast and arm are disassembled from the socket and
stored in the building. The mast and the arm have a weight of respectively 28kg
and 16kg.
o Working configuration, the davit is fixed on the socket, the arm facing the facade.
• Two ropes are attached to the anchor points at the end of the arm, a main suspension
rope and a secondary rope.
• The arm is rotated on the front side and the ropes are lowered to the ground.
• The davit is ready for use

6. Prohibited use.
 Operatives which have not be trained to use the davit and the lifting equipment.
 Only one user working without being under control of another coworker that would help
him if needed.
 More than 1 person attached to the davit.
 No obstacle that could hurt the operative.
 It is forbidden to work if the wind speed is higher than 50 km/h.
 In the event of a thunderstorm or any other exceptional climatic conditions potentially
dangerous.
 It is strictly forbidden to use the davit beyond the limits specified in this manual or in any
situation other than the one for which it is intended.
 It is strictly forbidden to use the davit when the conditions or rules to work in suspension
are not respected.

7. Warnings
 It is imperative to delimit a working area on the ground to avoid a collision between the
operative and a pedestrian or any other obstacle.
 The marking on the davit arm must be permanently legible.

8. Expected life of the installation

All components of the davit are made of austenitic stainless steel or mild steel hot-dip
galvanized and aluminum. These materials have a high resistance to atmospheric agents.
A lifetime of 20 is guaranteed.

 9. Marking
A warning is installed on the arm of the davit arm.
Fallprotec assigns to each equipment a serial number which is marked on the warning plate.
Manufacturing date is also indicated on the warning plate.

The davit is marked as follows:

• A pictogram enabling users to read the operating instructions
• CE mark
• Name of manufacturer
• Model (serial number)
• The QQ / AA manufacturing lot number (Quarter / Year)
• Number of applicable standard and date of application of the standard
• Working load limit (WLL)
• Self-weight of the system ( SWR)

10. Maintenance and inspection.

• The davit will be inspected by a competent person once a year or when an anomaly is
detected. The safety of the users is linked to the maintenance of the efficiency and the
strength of the equipment.
• A competent person will verify the legibility of the information on the marking plate
fixed on the davit.
• Any modification of the equipment or any addition to the equipment cannot be done
without the prior written consent of FALLPROTEC
