Syllabus
Introduction to ergonomics, Information input for human system, Human system output and control,
Biomechanics, Bio thermodynamics and Bio energetics, Human factors in workplace design, Work
place environment and work place design, Applications in real and virtual environments.
Expected Outcome
The student will get a strong understanding of ergonomics and its application in the real
working environments.
The students will an insight about the functioning and capability of human system in real
world.

tools and devices.
First Internal Exam
Biomechanics: Mechanics of upper extremity of hand, lower
III extremity and foot, bending, lifting and carrying, human body 6 15
kinematics, kinetics, impact and collision.
Biothermodynamics and Bioenergitics: Human operator
heat transfer, human system bioenergetics, human operator

thermo regularity, passive operator, active operator, heat
stress.
Second Internal Exam
Human factors in workplace design: Applied
anthropometry, workspace design and seating, arrangement of
V components within a physical space, interpersonal aspects of 7 20
work place design, work capacity, stress, fatigue.
Note: If use of tables and charts are permitted for the university examination for this course,
proper direction of the same should be provided on the facing sheet of the question paper.
