Here’s the first half of an A section. You can see how Luca starts in the home key of
Bb major (Bb C D Eb F G A) but then switches to Eb major (Eb F G Ab Bb C D) on the
Fm7. This is one of the grey areas in jazz theory... you can interpret that as both Eb
major and F Dorian. The most important thing is to understand how some chords fit
under the same scale, but you still need to choose different target notes... you can
hold the Ab over the Fm7 (minor 3rd) but it won’t sound so good over the Ebmaj7
(4th).
