Definition of Health
"State of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease
or infirmity." Health is a destination that we reach to help us become productive in life.”

World Health Organization (WHO)

Health is:

• Specific to person’s life -- it's personal

• Dynamic, changing method

• Holistic, not merely the absence of illness

• Related to quality of someone’s life

• Multidimensional

• Related to person’s ability to deal with the challenge of modification

Dimensions of Health
Health is multidimensional. These dimensions are dependent. They move and overlap with one
another to provide health. As these dimensions move, they turn out a unique health and wellness
profile for every individual. Following area units are the dimensions of health:

• Social

• Environmental

• Spiritual

• emotional

• physical

• mental
1. Physical health suggests that

perfect functioning of the body during which every organ is functioning consonant with the
utmost capability. Physical health is achieved by the exercise, healthy diet, adequate rest and
sleep and no smoking or alcohol intake. to take care of correct physical health there's need for
taking safety precautions, and regular follow up with the health care suppliers.

Signs of physical health :

• A smart complexion.

• A clean skin.

• Bright eyes.

• Not too fatty.

• A sweet breath.

2. mental health could be a state of balance between body and mind . Earlier the body and
mind were thought of 2 separate entities.  however these area unit interconnected as physical
sickness may result mental illness and vice versa.

3. an individual is socially healthy if he's able to maintain harmonious relationship with


different members of society during which he lives. Social health rooted in “positive material
environment” and “positive human environment” that thinks about with the social network of the
individual.

The social dimensions of health includes;

• Respect

4. Spirituality means that involved with deeper self and exploration the aim of life, as
individuals believe some force that transcend physiology and psychological science of
individuals.

It includes love , charity, purpose , principles , ethics, intigrity,hope of life,Meditations ,prayers,


or religious gatherings area unit organized to take care of religious health.

5. Emotional health is closely associated with the mental state and is taken into account as a
crucial part of health. Mental and emotional aspects of health area unit currently viewed as 2

Health and wellness are associated with person’s ability to address the various interactions and

(1) Reactive or Curative approach

In general, reactive individuals tend to cope with things as they come. These individuals are

minute. Reactive individuals are usually stunned by things such as:

• Worrying regarding your health only sick. Not declarative control over your health within
the absence of illness.

• “if you’re sick, take some pills; otherwise, have fun and enjoy yourself! I’ll quit smoking
later.”
(2) Proactive approach

What is proactive? Proactive individuals are terribly organized and that they project themselves
into the long run instead of focusing solely on what’s happening ahead of them. So, you need to
attempt to be proactive.

• adopting lifestyle habits that, within the end of the day, can change you to guide a
healthier life.

• “I am building for the long run. What i do for my body these days lays the foundation for
a period of involvement in healthy activities.”

Wellness
Wellness is ?

achieved. Emotional health is maintained or increased by taking part in frequent leisure
and recreational exercises. Do activities that need each of your senses: smell, taste, touch,

along with your pet, and watch your favorite film or sunset.

• Be sensitive to different people's feelings and your feelings.

(2) Environmental

Environmental wellness is connected to the environments you occupy. This dimension of


wellness combines your general well-being with the wellness of your surroundings. Your
surroundings, both your personal and natural surroundings, will have a good impact on however
you feel. It may be tough to feel sensible if you're encircled by muddle and disorganization, or if
you are feeling uncomfortable in your surroundings. Pollution, violence, garbage pickup and
