Week 1
Lesson 15: Addition of Subtraction
Objectives: Add two or more fractions
Simplify expressions that contain rational number.
Solve problems.

Day 1: March 14, 2022

Steps to be followed in adding mixed fractions without regrouping.
Step 1: Find the least common denominator.
Step 2: Write the equivalent fractions using the least common denominator.
Step 3: Add the numerators and take the same denominator. Then add the whole numbers.
Example#1
Ronnel was very thirsty and drank 2 glasses of water. There was 4/8 liter of water in the first glass and 2/5 liter in the
second glass. How much water did he drink altogether?

Step 1: Find the least common denominator.

Multiply the denominator. (8x5) = 40
Step 2: Write the equivalent fractions using the least common denominator.
4 20 2 16
= =
8 40 5 40
Step 3: Add the numerators and take the same denominator.
20 16
+ = 36/40 or 9/10
40 40
Ronnel drank 9/10 L of water.

Example #2
Add: 3/8 + 5/6
Solution:
3 18
=
8 48
5 40
=
6 48
18 40
= +¿
48 48
58 29 5
= or or 1
48 24 24
 See page 68 -69 of your math book for the other examples.

Day 2: March 15, 2022

Add the following fractions. Show your solution at the back of this paper.
4 7 4 8 7 5
1.) 2 +9 = _______ 2.) 8 +6 = ________ 3. 7 +3 =
7 10 9 12 16 8
_______
14 12 13 13
4.) 12 +9 = __________ 5.) 10 +7 =_________
17 19 21 15

Day 3: March 16, 2022

Solve the following fractions. Show your solution at the back of this paper.
2 −2 −7 −5 3 −7
1.) + = _______ 2.) + = _______ 3. + = ________
3 9 15 12 8 12

17 −13 −11 −7
4.) +9 = ________ 5.) + =_______
21 21 9 9

Day 4: March 17, 2022

 See page 73 of your math book and answer.

Week 2
Lesson 15: subtraction of Fraction
Objectives: To subtract fractions
To simplify expressions that contains rational number.

Day 1: March 21, 2022

Steps in subtracting similar Fractions without regrouping
Step 1: Subtract the numerators and then copy the denominator.
Step 2: Simplify the answer if possible.
Example:
7/15 – 4/15 = 3/15 or 1/5

Steps in Subtracting Dissimilar Fractions

Step 1: Find the LCD of the fractions to write the equivalent fractions.
Step 2: Subtract the numerators and then copy the denominator.
Step 3: Simplify the answer if possible.
Example 8/9 – 5/15 LCD = 45
8/9 = 40/45 5/15 = 15/45

40/45 – 15/45 = 25/45 or 5/9

Examples:
a. 6/18 – 2/18 = 4/18

b. 6/18 – (-4)/18 = 6 +(+4) = 10

18 18
−9 −3
c. - = 1(-9) + 4 (+3) = -9 + (+12) = 3
20 5
20 20 20
Day 2: March 22, 2022
Solve the following fractions. Show your solution .
−8 3 2 3 7 3
1.) - = _______ 2.) + = _______ 3. -5 - 2 = ________
9 10 7 14 8 4

18 8 −19 −9
4.) - = ________ 5.) 9 - =_______
13 13 15 15
Day 3: March 23 – 24, 2022
 Answer the activity on page 74 of your math book.

Week 3
Lesson 16: Multiplication and Division of Fractions
Objectives: Multiply and divide fractions
Determine the reciprocal of a given fractions.

Day 1: March 28, 2022

Multiplying Fraction
3
Example: 1 × 3
8
3 11
Step 1: convert the mixed fraction (1 ) to an improper fraction ( )
8 8
3
Step 2: Make the whole number 3 as a fraction by using 1 as the denominator of the fraction. 3 =
1
Step 3: Multiply the numerators then multiply the denominators. Simplify the answer if possible.
11 3 33 1
x = or 4
8 1 8 8
Dividing Fraction
Steps in dividing a fraction
Use the KEEP ---- CHANGE ----- FLIP METHOD
Where:
1.) KEEP = Keep the first fraction as is and just leave it alone.
2.) CHANGE = Change the division sign to a multiplication sign.
3.) FLIP = Flip the second fraction (swap the numerator and the denominator)
 See page 76 of your math book for the examples.

Day 2: March 29, 2022

 Answer Guided Practice on page 77 -78 in your math book.

Day 3: March 30 – 31 2022

 Answer Skill Booster on page 79 – 80.
