Lesson 2: Directives to grow in Human dignity

Q1 What are the ways God has given us to grow in human dignity?
ANS: God wants us human beings to grow human dignity so he has given
us some norms and commandments.
1. God has set up some norms already in the creation. This we call
Natural Law.
2. God has inscribed them in the hearts of human beings. This we call
conscience.
3. He gave them in writing on Mount Sinai. These we call the ten
commandments.
4. He perfected them through Jesus Christ. This we call the Christ –
event.

Q2 What is the Natural law?


ANS: The norms that were already in creation which were set up by God
is called the natural law. For example, when God created the heaven and
the earth, He put perfect order in them.

Q3 What is Conscience?
ANS: The inner power to find out what is good and bad and what is right
or wrong which God has given each human. He talks to us every minute
from within our hearts and guides us. God’s voice in our hearts is known
as the conscience.

Q4 Why did God give us the Ten Commandments?


ANS: God gave us the Ten Commandments because he wants us to grow
more and more in human dignity. God also wanted to strengthen his
relationship with the Israelites.

Q5 What is Christ event?


ANS: Jesus loved humanity so much that he gave his life on the cross; on
the third day he rose from the dead and He renewed the relationship
between God and humanity.
Q6 What is the new commandment that Christ has given us?
ANS: The New commandment that Christ has given us is" Love one
another as I have loved you".

Q7 What do we gain by living according to God’s commandments?


ANS: If we follow and live according to God’s commandments we will
grow in human dignity.
