ACLC SHS Home Economics Skills Competition

General Guidelines

1. Each contest category is open to all bona fide SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL HOME ECONOMICS
STUDENTS of ACLC College of Tacloban for Academic Year 2021-2022. However, students are only
allowed to participate in competitions that are aligned with their specialization.

2. The skills competition shall be held on April 22, 2022.

3. Final list of contestants for live competitions must be submitted on or before April 8, 2022, to the
coordinating committee. Participants must be officially registered to the competition.

4. Script and PowerPoint Presentation for Live competitions must be submitted on or before April 15, 2022.

5. No participant must join two or more contest.

6. Participants are required to adhere to the guidelines and rules of the contest as provided.

7. Every contest category is presented with guidelines, contest rules and regulations, criteria for judging and
contest proceedings.

8. The winners shall receive certificates of participation and cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

9. All original videos will become a property of ACLC College Tacloban and will be posted on its Facebook
page.

10. All video materials should be submitted in MP4 File Format and is to be submitted through Gmail
(haroldyangao@gmail.com) or through flash drive.

11. No profanities or sensualities are allowed. Entries should be for all audiences.

12. Participants must strictly follow health protocols. Taping the entries must be done inside their homes.

13. Violation of any of the rules and regulations shall result to deduction of criteria points.

14. Winners shall be announced on April 22, 2022.

15. Entries submitted after the deadline SHALL NO LONGER BE ACCEPTED. Failure to comply with
the instructions regarding submission of entries would result to automatic disqualification.

16. There shall be three judges for the entire live skills competition.

17. The decision of the Board of Judges is final and irrevocable. If there’s a tie, the Chairperson of the Board
of Judges will make the final decision.

18. No protest or complaint shall be entertained as judgment is done with finality. Only queries and suggestions
shall be entertained for future competitions.
Deductions:

1. Two (2) points deduction for violation of General Guidelines number 4.


2. One (1) point deduction will be made for every thirty (30) seconds of late appearance in the live skills
competition.
Best Flairtending Move Video (Tiktok) (Video Presentation)
Deadline of entry submission: April 15, 2022, 12:00 PM
No of Participants: 6

1. The contestants are required to perform a Tiktok video showing their best flair bartending
move/sequence.
2. The background music should be appropriate to all audience.
3. Contestants are to wear long white sleeves polo and black slacks in the video.
4. Contestants are free to choose any background music for their video aligned with rule no. 2.
5. The Tiktok Video should run at a minimum of 30 seconds and 1 minute maximum.
6. No profanities or sensualities are allowed.
7. Obscene /indecent movements are strictly prohibited.
8. Violation of any of these contest guidelines will result to disqualification of the participant/s.
9. Social Media Impact will be decided by the number of “wow” reaction the video receives.

Best Cooking Demonstration Video (Individual) (Video Presentation)
Deadline of entry submission: April 15, 2022, 12:00 PM

1. The contestants are required to perform a video showing their best cooking demonstration.
2. The background music should be appropriate to all audience.
3. Contestants are to wear proper attire. (White Polo Shirt/Chef’s Uniform, Hairnet, Apron, Gloves)
4. Contestants are free to choose any background music for their video aligned with rule no. 2.
5. The video should run at a minimum 5 minutes and 6 minutes maximum.
6. No profanities or sensualities are allowed.
7. The videos should contain a mis en place, dish preparation and dish presentation.
8. Violation of any of these contest guidelines will result to disqualification of the participant/s.
9. Social Media Impact will be decided by the number of “wow” reaction the video receives.
10. Common dishes like adobo, paksiw and tinola will be subjected for the coordinator’s examination if it
will be accepted or not.
11.The contestant is free to decide the quantity of his ingredients.

Best Plating (Individual) (Video Presentation)

Deadline of entry submission: April 15, 2022, 12:00 PM

No. of Participants: 6

1. The contestants are required to create a Tiktok video and a photo of a garnished and plated food.
2. The background music should be appropriate to all audience.
3. Contestants are to wear proper attire. (White Polo Shirt/Chef’s Uniform, Hairnet, Apron, Gloves)
4. Contestants are free to choose any background music for their video aligned with rule no. 2.
5. The video should run at a minimum 30 seconds and 40 seconds maximum.
6. No profanities or sensualities are allowed.
7. The faces of the contestants should be clearly identified in the video.
8. Violation of any of these contest guidelines will result to disqualification of the participant/s.
9. Social Media Impact will be decided by the number of “wow” reaction the video receives.
10. Common dishes like adobo, paksiw and tinola will be subjected for the coordinator’s examination if it
will be accepted or not.
11.The dish quantity on the plate should only be good for one.
12.The contestants are free to choose their dishes but will still be under guideline no. 10.

Tour Guiding Competition (Individual) (Live Presentation)

1. The contestant is required to perform a virtual tour guiding using PowerPoint presentation and other
visual aids and equipment.
2. The contestants are to make their own PowerPoint presentations and are to be submitted for checking on
or before April 15,2022 12:00 PM.
3. Contestants are to wear corporate attire.
4. Contestants are given 6 minutes minimum and 10 minutes maximum for their tour guiding presentation
5. No profanities or sensualities are allowed.
6. The contestants are to secure a stable internet connection. They will only be given two chances to present
if one of them gets disconnected.
7. The contestants are free to choose and research any tourist spot only within Region VIII.
8. The winner will be decided by the Board of Judges.

1. The contestants are required to perform a hotel and restaurant telephone reservation.
2. The contestants must be in pair with one acting as the staff and the other one as the guest.
3. The participants are free to use and choose any script for their hotel and restaurant telephone reservation.
(Script must be submitted on or before April 15, 2022 12:00 PM)
4. Contestants are to wear proper attire. (Corporate Attire)
5. Each participant in the pair must switch roles after the first telephone call.
6. The contestants are given six (6) minutes to present their reservations.
7. No profanities or sensualities are allowed.
8. The presenters must provide their own props for their reservation. (Background setting, phones etc.)
9. The contestants are to secure a stable internet connection. They will only be given two chances to
present if one of them gets disconnected.
10. The winner will be decided by the Board of Judges.

1. The contestant is required to perform Basic Waitering.


2. The contestant should master the sequence from start to end.
3. The contestant should create his/her own menu list (soft copy) and are to be submitted for checking on
or before April 15,2022 12:00 PM.
4. The contestants are given five (5) minutes to present.
5. Contestants are to wear long white sleeves polo, black slacks and observe proper grooming and
hygiene.
6. No mentioning of brand (Hotel and Restaurant). Participants are to make up their own brand name.
7. No profanities or sensualities are allowed.
8. Violation of any of these contest guidelines will result to disqualification of the participants.
9. The presenters must provide their own props for their basic waitering. (Background setting, etc.)
10. The contestants are to secure a stable internet connection. He/she will only be given two chances to
present if disconnected.
11. The winner will be decided by the Board of Judges.

5. The contestants are given five (5) minutes to present.
6. No profanities or sensualities are allowed.
7. The presenters must provide their own props. (Background setting, phones etc.)
8. The contestants are to secure a stable internet connection. He/she will only be given two chances to present if
disconnected.
9. The winner will be decided by the Board of Judges.

2. The contestants are to make their own PowerPoint presentations and are to be submitted for checking on
or before April 15,2022 12:00 PM.
3. The contestants are going to showcase the amenities and equipments found in the Suite or Executive
Room.
4. Contestants are to wear corporate attire.
5. The contestants are given five (5) minutes to present.
6. No profanities or sensualities are allowed.
7. The contestants are to secure a stable internet connection. He/she will only be given two chances if
disconnected.
8. The winner will be decided by the Board of Judges.

1. The contestants are required to perform a Tiktok video showing their Best Presentation on Table Napkin
Fold.
2. The contestants shall present one (1) table napkin fold design for CHINAWARE, GLASSWARE AND
SILVERWARE.
3. The participant shall present in an informative and creative way.
4. Contestants are to wear corporate attire.
5. If adding background music, it shall be appropriate to all audience.
6. The Tiktok Video shall run at a minimum of 2 minutes and 3 minutes maximum.
7. No profanities or sensualities are allowed.
8. Obscene /indecent movements are strictly prohibited.
9. Violation of any of these contest guidelines will result to disqualification of the participant/s.
10. Social Media Impact will be decided by the number of “wow” reaction the video receives.

1. The contestants will be presenting the Table Appointments being used in:
• Lunch Set-Up for Russian Table Service
• A la cart Table Set-Up
2. The contestants are given five (5) minutes to present through recorded Video Presentation. He/she can attach
information, graphics, audio, music and video. The participants should observe copyright infringement.
3. The contestants shall produce original Video Presentation.
4. Contestants are to wear proper attire. (Corporate Attire)
5. No profanities or sensualities are allowed.
6. Social Media Impact will be decided by the number of reaction the video receives.
7. The winner will be decided by the Board of Judges.
