Finally, summarize what the purpose of the text is.
Text 1
In the last decade, tsunamis have occurred all around the world. The term of
“tsunami” comes from the Japanese which means harbour (“tsu”) and wave
1. …………………………. (“nami”). A tsunami is a series of waves generated when water in an ocean or a
sea is rapidly displaced on a massive scale. They are usually caused by
earthquakes. So how does a tectonic tsunami happen?
First, when an earthquake happens, a tectonic plate on one side of the fault
2. …………………………. falls abruptly. It causes water to move forward with the trough of the wave at its
front.
Then, as a tsunami leaves the deep water of the open ocean and travels into
the shallower water near the coast, it transforms. As the water depth decreases,
the tsunami slows. Consequently, as the tsunami’s speed diminishes, its height
3. ……..…………………. grows. This is called shoaling. Because of it, a tsunami that is unnoticeable at sea
may grow to be several metres or more in height near the coast.
Tsunamis begin to lose energy as they rush onshore, but still reach the coast
with tremendous amount of energy. They can strip a large amount of sand from
4. .………………………. the beach and take away trees. They can also cause flooding hundreds of metres
inland and crush homes and coastal structures.

Analyze these jumbled paragraphs carefully .
To learn more about the structure of explanation text, think about the proper sequential order of water cy
Finally, summarize what the purpose of the text is.
A. As the water falls down into the ground, it flows into streams, rivers, lakes, seas and ocean.
This is what so called as collection which then the cycle starts all over again.
B. Water from the earth’s oceans is heated by the sun’s rays which causes it to change into a
gas and rise into the air. This process is called evaporation.
C. The water droplets form clouds which become heavy then fall from the sky in the form of rain,
sleet, hail or snow; this is called precipitation.

er cycle, also called hydrologic cycle, is cycle that involves the continuous circulation of water in the Earth-atmosphere system. How
does the cycle go? Let’s find out the answer.
D. Once high up in the sky, the gas begins to cool and turns back into a liquid. In this stage the
condensation happens.

Have you ever wondered how people get chocolate from? In this
article we’ll enter the amazing world of chocolate so you can understand
exactly what you’re eating.
Chocolate starts with a tree called the cacao tree. This tree grows in
equatorial regions, especially in places such as South America, Africa, and
Indonesia. The cacao tree produces a fruit about the size of a small pine
apple. Inside the fruit are the tree’s seeds, also known as cocoa beans.
The beans are fermented for about a week, dried in the sun and
then shipped to the chocolate maker. The chocolate maker starts by
roasting the beans to bring out the flavor. Different beans from different
places have different qualities and flavor, so they are often sorted and
blended to produce a distinctive mix. Next, the roasted beans are
winnowed. Winnowing removes the meat nib of the cacao bean from its
shell. Then, the nibs are blended. The blended nibs are ground to make it a
liquid. The liquid is called chocolate liquor. It tastes bitter. All seeds
contain some of
Purpose amount of fat, and cacao beans are not different. However,

cacao beans are half fat, which is why the ground nibs form liquid. It’s
pure bitter
chocolate.
