Qui Robinez, Solar Eclipse
Qui Robinez, Solar Eclipse
This soundset is made exclusively for the Korg Wavestate synthesizer. It uses lots of the special
features that the Korg Wavestate has to offer.
In this sound set you will find 106 performances and 110 programs which you can use to build
your own performances. They are the perfect building blocks for your own performances to start
with.
There are Wave sequenced pads. Berlin skool performances, Solo sounds, Bass sounds, Synth
sounds, Arpeggiator sounds, Lead sounds and many more in this set.
Almost all sounds have assigned performance knobs and a Mod wheel feature.

To install the the complete Solar Eclipse Library execute the following steps:
· Unzip the SOLARECLIPSEQR.zip file
· You will have 2 files:
o SolarEclipseQR.wsbundle (the sound data file)
o SolarEclipseManualQR.PDF (the Manual)
· Open the Korg Wavestate librarian that you have installed on your computer
· When your wavestate is recognised in the librarian go the file menu at the left top of the
screen
· Select File - Import
· You will get a file explorer where you can select the SolarEclipseQR.wsbundle file
· After selecting the file the librarian will add the Performances and Programs on your Korg
Wavestate.
You can find the sounds in the wavestate performances when you browse to the letter Q. All performance
sounds start with the QR abbreviation so that they can easily be recognised and are grouped together.
The same applies to the programs, they all start with QR and can be used as building blocks for your own
sounds. (they can also be selected by using the collection QR Solar Express filter, in the performance and
program filter page on the korg Wavestate)
Tips and Tricks
The set uses lots of programming tricks. It can make a huge difference when using the performance
knobs when you try them out. Most sounds are using the same performance setup so that you can quickly
learn how to use them.
Performance Knob assignments:
1: Cutoff
2: Resonance
3: (depends on the sound if it’s used, but mostly fx assignments)
4: Velocity sensitivity (all sounds were designed for the wavestate keyboard, but if you are using a
different keyboard or simply want to add more velocity control, then turn this knob to apply it to all the
layers at once)
5: Volume Layer A
6: Volume Layer B
7: Volume Layer C
8: Volume Layer D
Exceptions
There are a couple of sounds that are using different assignments, this is intentional and in most cases i
did this because i wanted to give more control to the wave sequence layers. Another option is that it is
specifically assigned for features of a specific sound.
An example of such a sound is the: QR Moog Bass Knobs
This is a great funky Moog bass sound which is using the following setup:
1: Cutoff
2: Resonance
3: no assignment
4: Velocity sensitivity
5: Attack
6: Decay
7: Sustain
8: Release
In this specific example you can quickly modify all the important parameters of the moog bass sound
during your performance.
General
Try the performances while turning the performance knobs 5-8. Sometimes adding different volume levels
(or simply disabling layers) can make a huge difference to the sound. In most cases i used the mod wheel
to modify the sound by changing volume levels of layers and filter assignments in real time, so don’t
forget to try the mod wheel too.
In the set you will find performances that are using one till four layers. Keep in mind when designing your
own sounds that you don’t always need all four layers. Especially when creating solo sounds then
sometimes is one layer more than enough. Also an important thing to remember is that four layer
performances can take a lot of notes from the maximum notes the wavestate supports. So when
designing your own sounds always think of what your main goal with the sound is.
Programs
In the Wavestate there is a huge amount of predefined programs and lane presets. When you create your
own programs then don’t hesitate to use them, they can be great starting points for your own sounds by
simply modifying them or even randomizing some of the lanes (hold the randomize button and press the
lane button that you want to randomize). It can give great results. I highly recommend that once you are
pleased with one of your own programs that you save them with your own initials, so that whenever you
need such a sound as a starting point again you can use that program. It will save you a lot of work if you
do it that way.
In the Solar Express sound set you have 106 extra programs to use in your own performances. Most of
them are created from scratch, but each is a building block for a specific purpose and can be a great
starting point for your own sounds. For instance if you need a bass pattern then just select one of the
included bass patterns and just modify the pitch lane and timing lane so that you create your own pattern.
There are a lot of different kinds of building blocks that way. Programs are the perfect solution for that!
