TASK 11: Look a Filipino song with an English version, or a foreign song with a
Filipino translation. Cut the lyrics and paste in the short bond paper. Then, below answer
this questions; what do these cultural appropriations tell us the nature of globalization?

Pag-ibig na Kaya by Christian Bautista Perhaps Love by HOWL & J

and Rachelle Ann Go (Princess Hours (Princess Hours OST- English Lyrics)
OST - Philippine Version)

‘Di na maalala Don’t remember when it happened.

Pa’no nagsimula I’d get dizzy just thinking about you.
Ikaw ang laging nasa isip ko bawat araw, Because my thoughts kept stretching, my
laging ikaw, laging nakita heart was surprised.
Ano ba ang nadarama ko tuwing ikaw ay It’s a little awkward that I keep saying to
kasama you that “it’s nothing”
And that “my heart’s just trifling”
Ganyan din ang nadarama ko
Tuwing ika’y lalapit sa akin Is this love? And if you feel the same way,
Ako’y parang natutulala ‘di ko malaman is this the beginning?
ang sasabihin ko My heart keeps saying it loves you and the
more the world listens
Pag-ibig na kaya? The louder it yells it.
Pareho ang nadarama Why is it just now that I hear it?
Ito na ba ang simula? ‘di na mapigilan That love has been found us so we might be
Pag-ibig na ito together.
Sana’y di matapos ang naradamang ito.

What do these cultural appropriations tell us the nature of globalization?

This cultural appropriation reveals the nature of globalization, revealing that we can
simply translate any music we want. Any Filipino song can be translated into English,
and any foreign song can be translated into Filipino. We can do anything we want with
any song thanks to globalization. We can bridge cultural, linguistic, and other gaps in any
country.

TASK 12: You are attending a peace rally to condemn the recent bombings in certain
parts of the world. As the public relations officer of your organization, you are assigned
to lead the opening prayer. You are advised to limit the prayer to two to three minutes.
Write a 300-word personal prayer.

“The Lord protects and preserves them - they are counted among the blessed in the
land—he does not give them over to the desire of their foes. The Lord sustains them on
their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness.”
Oh our loving Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ, hear your people’s plea for your
divine assistance. Move our hearts with the peace of your Spirit as we care for ourselves
and each other. Lift our minds with your wisdom to act responsibly and effectively for
everyone’s benefit.
Oh Lord, bring us together in your Holy Spirit to work as one in protecting each
other from this menacing disease. O Almighty God,who can bring good out of evil and
makes even the wrath of man to turn to your praise, we ask you so to order and eliminate
the issue of this violence, that we may be brought through strife to a lasting peace and
that the nations of the world may be united in a firmer fellowship for the promotion of
your glory and the good of all mankind.
Lord Jesus Christ, who are called the Prince of Peace, who are yourself our peace
and reconciliation, who so often said, “Peace to you,” grant us peace. Make all men and
women witnesses of truth, justice, and brotherly love. Banish from their hearts whatever
might endanger peace. Enlighten our rulers that they may guarantee and defend the great
gift of peace. May all peoples of the earth becomes as brothers and sisters. May longed-
for peace blossom forth and reign always over us all. We pray this in the name of your
son, our Lord Jesus, who knows what being a light in this dark world is all about. Amen.

SELF-EVALUATION: In your own words, how do you understand globalization? Write

your answer in the opposite column in each attributes.

Globalization affects because...

National identities Globalization has an impact on our
identities because it allows us to participate
in a greater spectrum of material culture,
such as food and music. Our understanding
of who we are will change as a result of
how we make sense of these worldwide
cultural fluxes.
Languages Languages are the lifeblood of
globalization for language is the most
common way for people to communicate
across cultures. Knowing another language
expands our horizons, allows us to think
globally, and allows us to better understand
ourselves and our neighbors.
Religious beliefs Globalization encourages a pluralistic
culture in which religions "with
overlapping but distinct ethics and
objectives" coexist. The world's great
religious traditions—Hinduism, Buddhism,
Judaism, Christianity, and Islam—basically
teach human dignity, equality, freedom,
peace, and solidarity. Religions, in
particular, adhere to the Golden Rule: "Do
not do to others what you would not want
done to you." As a result of these religious
convictions, globalization promotes more
religious tolerance in areas such as politics,
the economics, and culture.
Cultures Globalization, in a broad sense, promotes
cultural identity, and individuals are
becoming more interested in the
distinctiveness or particularity of their
culture. If we take a negative view of
globalization, hegemonic dominance may
develop. On the other side, globalization
may foster a sense of "oneness."

POST-TEST: Answer the following questions briefly.

1.How do local and global media interact in country like the Philippines?
In the Philippines, local and international media interact in ways that are comparable
to how a global product gets modified for a particular market. Spreading awareness of
this product is much easier with the help of a variety of media.

2.Is the global village still an imagined community? Why or why not?

Yes, for some. The global village is still an imagined society, and it will remain so as
long as people maintain their national pride and do not share a single collective identity.
We are, after all, a global community as a result of globalization.

3.How can religion be a force for peace in a world increasingly ridden with religious
fiction?

In crisis situations, religion symbolizes significant civil society communities and

institutions that are often viewed as representing uniting values that transcend disputed
themes; they are frequently among the most stable, most trusted bodies capable of
resolving disagreements.
