Egr Troubleshooting Basics

The document provides information on exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems and basic troubleshooting of EGR valves. It discusses how EGR systems work to lower combustion temperatures and reduce emissions by recirculating exhaust gas into the intake. It then lists the main components of an EGR system and gives tips on troubleshooting common issues like stuck or carbonized EGR valves. Causes like deposits or oil contamination blocking the valve are explained, as well as checks for the vacuum system or electrical components.

EGR Troubleshooting basics

Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) is a reliable and practice-proven method of emission control. As a result of
exhaust gas, the oxygen content in the air-fuel mixture is reduced and the combustion temperature in the
cylinders are lowered. Pierburg explains the basics of EGR systems and some basic troubleshooting.
