COURSE SYLLABUS
COURSE INFORMATION
Course Description: Preparation for CompTIA's Security + exam, validating technical competency in security
administration and support.

Student Learning Outcomes: Demonstrate skills required to pass CompTIA Security+ certification exam.
• THREATS, ATTACKS & VULNERABILITIES- Detect various types of compromise and have an understanding of
penetration testing and vulnerability scanning concepts
• IDENTITY & ACCESS MANAGEMENT - Install and configure identity and access services, as well as management
controls
• TECHNOLOGIES & TOOLS - Install, configure, and deploy network components while assessing and troubleshooting
issues to support organizational security
• RISK MANAGEMENT - Implement and summarize risk management best practices and the business impact
• ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN - Implement secure network architecture concepts and systems design
• CRYPTOGRAPHY & PKI - Install and configure wireless security settings and implement public key infrastructure
Method of Evaluation:
Unless otherwise stated, course completion is evaluated on the basis of attendance. Students must be in attendance
90% of the class time in order to be considered a successful completer of the course.
Students must be in attendance 90% of each course in a certificate series for successful completion and to earn
a certificate as specified.
Students must complete all courses (core and no. of elective courses needed) to complete a certificate series within two
years from start date of the first course taken.
