How does Paytm Soundbox work?

▪ Paytm Soundbox is a smart device that will act as a POS (point-of-sale)

machine for the merchant providing audio transaction updates

▪ The device will come with network connectivity through a SIM card and
will have a speaker

▪ Once a user makes the payment by scanning the QR code through Paytm
app or any other UPI app, the Soundbox will notify the merchant that
the payment is completed successfully. In short, the Soundbox will
announce the amount loudly on a successful transaction like “Received
payment of Rs.50”

▪ The Soundbox will be configured by PSAs through the help of Paytm

Service Agent App and Merchant can also place the order for SoundBox
from P4B app.

• LED indicator will turn Red for sometime, which means the device is switching on
• LED indicator will blink Yellow, which means its searching for network
• If LED indicator is Yellow, this means its ready for binding i.e PSA can map it to the merchant
via GG app
• Once the LED indicator turns Blue, its ready for use

SB1 What is a SoundBox? Paytm Soundbox is an audio activated smart device which
provides instant notifications when merchant receive a
payment. It is a small portable speaker for daily payment
alerts which comes with a SIM based connectivity. When a
customer makes a payment by scanning a Paytm QR code
the Soundbox will notify the merchant of successful
payments with a loud alert.

SB2 How does the SoundBox work? The soundbox will announce successful payments received
on merchant’s Paytm QR by announcing the amount loudly.
Please Note: This device can be mapped with the Static QR
and all payments received on scanning the QR will be
announced. Customers can pay through Wallet, UPI, Net
Banking and even through the other payment apps.

SB3 What do the different lights on The soundbox light indicator will display 3 colours -
the Soundbox mean? 1. Red light - on switching on the soundbox, a red
light appears. If this doesn't change to yellow, re-start
your device.
2. Yellow light - a blinking yellow light indicates
device is attempting to connect to network. If this
doesn't change to a stable blue light, there is poor
network connectivity. Re-insert the SIM and restart the
device.
Note - Stable yellow light - the blinking yellow light
should change to a stable blue light. If instead device
shows a constant yellow light, this means device is not
mapped to the merchant’s QR code.
3. Blue Light - a blinking blue light indicates poor
network connectivity. Once this changes to a stable
blue light, device is ready to accept payments. If blue
light continues blinking, re-insert SIM and restart the
device.
